Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland is the restaurant that everyone is talking about. Be Our Guest serves both lunch and dinner and the experiences are very different. We have experienced both meal times and here is our Be Our Guest Lunch review.

A dinner reservation is almost impossible to get, but if you have the patience to stand in line for lunch then you will be rewarded with a great experience and good food. Be Our Guest is very popular.

If you don’t plan ahead then you will be waiting in line with everyone else. There is no shade in the line so be prepared for a long wait of up to an hour, in the full sun! If the line is just extending over the bridge it seems to be around 30 to 40 minutes. If it is going as far as Gaston’s Tavern then you will be there for an hour at least.

Fortunately there are ways to plan ahead with FastPass+. If you are a Disney Resort Guest or Annual Passholder you can book in advance with FastPass+. You can also use FastPass+ at the kiosks in the parks if you do not fit into one of these groups.

The system for FastPass+ booking for Be Our Guest seems to be a little confused at this time with guests reporting that reservations are not available 60 days ahead as is usual with this system. No doubt Disney will get the system up and running in a logical way soon! If you can get a FastPass+ for Be Our Guest you will go straight to the front of the line.

Cast Members pass out menus to those in the line so you have plenty of time to make your selections. The food is “French inspired” but has a good range where even the pickiest of eaters should find something to their liking.

Eventually we got to the front of the line and entered the amazingly themed building. We were fortunate as we have eaten dinner at Be Our Guest so already knew to take our time to look around at the wonderful details in the theme.

Lunch guests stand in line in the Knights Corridor Hall of Armor. Listen carefully and you will see hear the suits of armor talk.

In this corridor there are podiums where the menu is displayed on interactive screens. Pictures of all the food are on the screens to give you a better idea of what you are ordering. A really good idea.

Finally you reach the Beast’s Library. You are greeted by a Cast Member and if you have a Magic Band that is scanned. If you don’t then you are given a red rose. Finally you get to go to a screen to order your food at one of the kiosks in the Library.

You scan your Magic Band or you rose on the kiosk. Then start the ordering process. This is pretty easy, particularly if you have been looking at the kiosks in the corridor so that you know what to expect. There are Cast Members walking around this area ready to assist if you need them.

Many people do seem to have problems with the ordering process though. We saw large groups of confused diners standing around the kiosks. It really is a good idea to look at the menu in the line and then look at the screens in the corridor. We thought they were pretty user friendly but many obviously didn’t!

When you are finished with your order you are able to walk into the dining areas and pick a room to dine in. You enter The Ballroom first and it really is breathtaking the first time you see it. It is large with very high ceilings and gives the right feeling that you truly are entering a Grand Ballroom. So yes you do have to ignore the noise and all the dining tables with hundreds of diners, but the effect is still spectacular.

Look up as you have to see the amazing chandeliers and the rather bizarre paintings of cherubs looking rather to realistically like modern babies. Not sure we liked that at all!

The huge windows at the back of the Ballroom are worth a closer look. Yes that really is snow falling (well Disney snow anyway).

We decided not to eat in this room but move on to the West Wing. This is one of two smaller rooms located off the main dining room.

The other is The Rose Gallery, but this one didn’t seem anywhere near as interesting. The West Wing is dimly lit and the smallest of the rooms. But we loved the decor and of course the Enchanted Rose is here.

Watch how the portrait over the fireplace changes too.

There is thunder and lightening in this room. We loved this effect but if you have younger children you may want to choose a different room.

We sat down and waited for our food. We had worked out that there is a sensor under the table so that they know where you are. The food is then delivered in elaborate dinner carts. A nice touch, except the Cast Members all seemed rushed and not exactly happy in their work. When our order came out it was incorrect so they had to go back and replace a couple of items.

We were eating on the Disney Dining Plan. My daughter and I all chose the Quinoa salad – With Green Beans, potatoes, Olives,Roasted Bell Peppers, Golden Beets and Tomatoes which is priced at $9.99. We were all pleasantly surprised to see a quinoa dish on a Disney Quick Service Dining Menu that we really had to try it!

The Quinoa was really good. I had also thought about ordering the Vegetable Quiche but was very happy with the Quinoa.

My husband chose the Tuna Nicoise Salad – Warm Seared Tuna Steak with chilled Green Beans, Potatoes,Olives, Roasted Bell Peppers, Tomatoes and Hard Poached Egg for $13.49. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan this is a great choice to get one of the best values out of a Quick Service Meal entree option. He enjoyed the salad and said that he would order it again.

The boys both ordered kids meals of Fish of the Day which is Grilled Fish of the Day served with Whole-Grain Rice Pilaf, Seasonal Vegetables, and Fruit Cup for $8.99. This comes with a choice of Small Lowfat Milk or Small Dasani® Water. A good healthy choice which they both enjoyed.

beourguestcupcakes

Of course we had eaten healthily for the entrees but completely gave in to the cup cake dessert choices. You have a choice of Strawberry cream cheese, Lemon Meringue or Triple chocolate cup cakes all priced at $3.19. We tried the Strawberry and the Lemon Meringue. Everyone’s preference was for the Lemon over the Strawberry.

Overall we all enjoyed our lunch at Be Our Guest. The decor is amazing, the food is good and the experience is worth the 40 minute wait we experienced. We would certainly do it again if the wait was 30 minutes or less or if we could get one of those elusive FastPass+ options. The one thing that did not impress overall were the Cast Members in the restaurant for lunch. No doubt they were working under extreme pressure but we found them mostly looking rushed and unhappy. Perhaps this can be addressed if more Cast Members are used at peak times (which let’s face it is the whole of lunch time for this restaurant).

Our rating for the Be Our Guest Restaurant Lunch is 8 out of 10.

Certainly worth it if you have never seen the inside of the Be Our Guest restaurant before. If you get a chance then book for dinner as the experience and the food are even better, but if that isn’t an option then go for lunch.

What do you think of the Be Our Guest Restaurant for lunch? Would you dine there again? We always love to hear your Comments.
