Disney Cruise Placeholder Changes

Sharing is caring!

Disney Cruise Line has just announced a change to their onboard booking perks.

Unfortunately, it seems that there will be an almost immediate loss of what was a very welcome benefit.

Many Disney cruisers know that a great way to save money on a future cruise is to book what is known as a Placeholder when you are sailing on a Disney cruise.

In the past, if you booked a future cruise onboard a Disney ship, or simply booked a Placeholder where you could decide dates later to be taken within 2 years you got various perks.

A Disney Cruise placeholder gives you a discount of 10% on your future cruise if you book categories 4A to 11C. This benefit will remain.

Also, if you book a 7-night or more sailing in those categories, you get a reduced 50% deposit.

Obviously, these are great benefits.

A 10% discount can add up to many hundreds of dollars.

However, the new policy means that you no longer get On-Board Credit.

This gave repeat Disney cruisers an On Board Credit of up to $200.

Clearly, a substantial benefit that has simply been lost almost overnight.

The new policy will go into action on Disney Fantasy on September 28 and on Disney Dream, Wonder, and Magic on September 30, 2019.

If you are sailing right now you have to act very quickly to qualify for the onboard credit.

All currently held Disney Placeholders will be honored.

I’m not happy with the changes as the pricing of cruising goes up, the $200 on board credit was a nice benefit. ?
