Beauty and the Beast has to be one of the most eagerly anticipated movies in Disney movie history. A new Beauty and the Beast trailer has just been released. As expected, the movie looks spectacular. Beauty and the Beast is one of the most beloved of the Disney animated movie renaissance. Fortunately it looks as though the new live action version is going to be wonderful and do justice to the original.

Take a look for yourself with this first full length Beauty and the Beast movie trailer.

We are sure this is going to be one of the biggest box office successes of 2017. Disney’s live action remake of Jungle Book made $977 million at the box office this year. Beauty and the Beast is likely to go way ahead of this.

We do have to confess that we are slightly nervous about seeing Emma Watson as Belle. She is so deeply ingrained on my consciousness as Hermione in the Harry Potter movies, that the transition to Disney has us wondering if everything will work out. However, she is a great actress and no doubt will be a huge success in this iconic Disney story.

Dan Stevens didn’t seem like the obvious choice to play The Beast either. However, it really seems that the cynics are likely to be proved wrong on this one too. You have to admire his British sense of humor in a comment made on a Facebook Live broadcast today about seeing a different side of The Beast in this movie.

“We see a little bit of his backstory. We learn a little bit more about this vain, spoiled, rich kid, son of a billionaire who treats women like objects and lives in a ridiculous luxury tower.”

The cast list is impressive. How do you follow Angela Landsbury as Mrs Potts? Well you cast Emma Thompson. That usually works! Other well known very reliable names on the cast list include Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Sir Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Josh Gad as La Fou, and Kevin Kline as Maurice.

The new Beauty and the Beast movie will feature songs from the original animated version. There will also be some new songs written by Alan Menken (who composed the original songs with the late Howard Ashman) and lyricist Tim Rice.

Again, what we really wonder is can Emma Watson sing? It is a ridiculous question really – Disney doesn’t tend to take big risks with huge budgets. If Emma Watson couldn’t sing we are sure she wouldn’t have been cast.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is set to be released on March 17 2017 in the US.
