Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Festival of the Lion King in Disney’s Animal Kingdom closes on January 5th 2014 for renovation as it is moving to a different location within the park. The Festival of the Lion King show will be dark until around June 2014 as it moves into it’s new location in the Africa part of the Animal Kingdom Park.

Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain is closed from 6th January to 21st March 2014. This will likely mean that lines for Big Thunder Mountain are longer than usual as this is in the same area – people tend to go to that area and find Splash Mountain closed so will then stand in line for Big Thunder Mountain.

The Barnstormer roller coaster is closed from 3rd to 5th February.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover closes on 10th February to 27th March 2014.

The Plaza Restaurant is closed from 17th February to 15th March.
Casey’s Corner is closed from 6th January until 15th February.
Agrabar Bazaar is closed until 2nd February.
Pinnochio Village Haus closes on 17th February and re opens on 30th March.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures February 2014

The Studio Backlot Tour closes on 5th January and re opens on 1st March

The good news is there are no scheduled rehabs or closures in Epcot during February 2014.

Blizzard Beach is closed for the whole of January and February for it’s annual rehab. It will reopen on 15th March 2014. If you want to visit a Disney water park at this time then Typhoon Lagoon is open.

We have already talked about the Resort Monorail Closure. This will affect monorail resort hotel guests in particular as the monorail to the resorts will not be running on weekdays from 11.30 to 7pm each day from 21st January to the end of March. There will be extra boats and buses to take guests to the Magic Kingdom but nevertheless this is still a consideration if you are going to be booking a monorail hotel – your journey time to Magic Kingdom will be longer and not as convenient as the monorail.

Remember that these are scheduled closures and rehabs known at this time for February 2014. Rides can close, usually briefly, for unscheduled stops. Usually these closures are brief – those of us who love Test Track in Epcot know to expect some down time!
