When will Disney Cruise Lines release their late 2021 and complete 2020 itineraries?
This is a question that I get asked a lot. What is the Disney Cruise 2021 and 2022 release date? Unfortunately there isn’t a clear answer, but usually we can make an educated guess.
This article is updated for June 2020.
Many cruise lines offer their itineraries further into the future than Disney Cruises does. For example, even in these difficult times, Princess Cruise Lines has itineraries to book out to May 2022, Carnival and Royal Caribbean up to April 2022. Norwegian Cruise Line even offers cruises up to December 2023.
However, right now, Disney Cruises are only available to book up to September 2021.
When Can We Expect the New Disney Cruises to be Released?
The only real clues to the Disney Cruise 2021 release date and for 2022 that we have are when Disney has released dates in the past.
A pattern has emerged, as you can see from these release dates from past years:
Disney Cruise Itineraries Released in 2019
- 9/26/2019 – January – May 2021
- 6/6/2019 – September – December 2020
- 2/28/2019 – May – September 2020
Disney Cruise Itineraries Released in 2018
- 9/27/2018 – January – May 2020
- 5/17/2018 – September – December 2019
- 3/1/2018 – May – September 2019
Disney Cruise Itineraries Released in 2017
- 10/26/2017 – January – May 2019
- 5/11/2017 – September – December 2018
- 2/21/2017 – May – September 2018
Disney Cruise Itineraries Released in 2016
- 10/25/2016 – January – May 2018
- 5/24/2016 – September – December 2017
- 4/12/2016 – May – September 2017
So the pattern that we can see is that usually late February early March is time for the May to September cruises to be released, Mid June and early June for Fall dates September to December and late September is usually the time they announce the early January to May itineraries.
With this pattern we would have expected the September to December 2021 cruises to be released in June. However, 2020 has so far been a complicated year for all cruise lines, and Disney cruises is no exception.
Right now all cruises are suspended until at least September 2020 and there have been many Disney Cruise Cancellations.
For those affected by the cancellations, Disney Cruise Line is offering guests the choice of a 125% future cruise credit to be used for a future sailing within 15 months of their original sail date, or a full refund.
For those guests who are trying to book another Disney cruise that can be quite frustrating as they are only a very limited supply of new cruises available to book right now.

When Will the Disney Wish Itineraries Be Released?
There is a New Disney Cruise Ship on the horizon. The Disney Wish was originally set to sail late 2021, but this was already pushed back to early 2022.
It isn’t known when in 2022 this will be launched. Looking at the Meyer Werft ship building site doesn’t really give us many more clues as it just says that it will be delivered in 2022.
Logically, we would guess that Disney is in no particular hurry to take delivery of the Disney Wish right now. But hopefully the cruise climate will look very different in 2022 than it does right now.
If the usual pattern was going to be the one to follow then we would have expected that the Disney Wish itinerary bookings would have been released around September 2020. It is very doubtful that this will be a good move, until the near future of cruising is clearer.
You don’t have to be a marketing genius to work out that selling the itineraries for the new Disney Wish could be better timed than when there is a voluntary ban for all CLIA members on cruising out of the US.
My best guess of when the Disney Wish cruise dates will be announced? If cruising restarts in September I would guess they will announce the new dates in January 2021. January is traditionally a huge time for booking cruises, so Disney would want to take advantage of this.
Will you be booking a Disney Cruise soon? Are you waiting for the Disney Wish cruises to be announced?
