The Disney Magic will start sailing again in June 2021!
The news we have all been waiting to hear!
This is the news from the Disney Cruise website.
“Departing on select dates from London Tilbury, Newcastle, Liverpool and Southampton aboard the Disney Magic, our new staycation sailings—exclusive to UK residents—invite you to embark on a brand-new, magical Disney experience. Close to home and at sea—be immersed in Disney storytelling, thanks to an amazing collection of onboard entertainment, dining and recreation for the entire family, with all the care you’d expect from Disney. Check back soon for more details!”
These Disney Magic at Sea sailings will be for 2, 3 or 4 nights. There will not be any port stops. For many Disney Cruise line fans this will not be a problem – just to be on the ship is going to be enough, for now.
Even though there won’t be any port stops there will be plenty to do on board.
As the Disney Magic is in Dover right now I would guess that the first sailing will be from Tilbury for 2 nights. Then sail to Southampton for a 3 night cruise to Liverpool, then a 3 or 4 night to Newcastle.
The President of Disney Cruise Line Thomas Mazloum said:
“Our teams are bringing tremendous ingenuity and fun to these new cruises, tailoring them with care to the times we are living in, yet filling them with everything you’d expect from Disney, from great service and entertainment to immersive dining experiences and magic for the whole family.”
What will the restrictions be on sailing? There is still no official word from Disney, but these will most likely include per cruise testing, masks, pre boarding health screening, physical distancing and enhanced disinfecting and cleaning protocols.
Will these Disney Magic cruises require proof of vaccination to board? Once again, no official word. I know this is a very controversial subject, but it seems very likely that they will.
When will the new Disney Magic sailings go on sail? It is thought that these Disney Europe cruises will be available to book in April.
However, there is no news yet of the exact date when the bookings for the Disney Magic UK sailings will go on sail. Nor is there any indication of whether Castaway Club members will have priority booking.
Are we likely to see a return to cruising in the US in June 2021. Unfortunately, that seems highly unlikely. The US is controlled by the CDC, who at this time does not seem to be doing a whole lot to assist the resumption of cruising.
Will you be booking one of the Disney Magic at Sea sailings?
