Disney Magic Concierge Stateroom Conversion Delayed

Sharing is caring!

Disney Cruise Line announced back in January 2020 that 12 Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah Staterooms would be converted to Category V Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandah.

This would have brought the Disney Magic in line with the Disney Wonder, who went through this conversion in the 2019 dry dock updates.

The conversion is relatively simple as nothing is done to the structure of the staterooms. The upgrade is in the quality of the furnishings to bring the staterooms in line with the other concierge staterooms on the ship.

However, Disney Cruise Lines has announced that the conversion of these staterooms on the Disney Magic is to be delayed.

The staterooms affected are:

  • 8026
  • 8028
  • 8036
  • 8038
  • 8040
  • 8042
  • 8526
  • 8528
  • 8536
  • 8538
  • 8540
  • 8542

I am a little surprised that Disney Cruise Lines has taken this decision.

Obviously, the cruise industry is not in the best of places right now, but in relative terms, the cost of converting 12 staterooms to concierge staterooms surely can’t have been that high.

The revenue for Disney Cruise Concierge Staterooms is considerably higher than the other staterooms, even the higher-priced Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah.

The concierge staterooms on a Disney cruise are usually one hundred percent sold out so there is definitely demand for more staterooms.

Disney Cruise Line has not made any official statement about why they are delaying the conversion of the staterooms on the Disney Magic to concierge and really it is unlikely that they will do so.

Were you going to be sailing in one of the newly converted Disney Magic concierge staterooms?

Has your stateroom been reassigned to you? There must have been bookings for the 2021 Disney Cruise Itineraries which have been affected.
