Disney Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2011

Sharing is caring!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2011 tickets are now on sale. Mickey’s Christmas Party’s are very popular nights of special entertainment which are held every year in Disney’s Magic Kingdom on select nights in November and December. It is a separately ticketed event which means that even if you already have a ticket to attend the Disney parks, you need a special Very Merry Christmas Party ticket to attend.

So just what can you expect from Mickey’s Christmas Party? It gives guests attending the parks a chance to see all the special Holiday features of parades, fireworks and special entertainment which is usually only to be seen on the week of Christmas.

What Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

Firstly let’s start with what not to expect! Sometimes guests think that because this event has limited tickets available that they will less of a wait in line for the attractions. Whilst most of the rides are open in Magic Kingdom for the Party, the lines are rarely short. This is a very popular event. Disney doesn’t actuallly publish the limit on the amount of tickets which it sells but it is thought to be around the 20,000 mark so you will still be sharing the Magic Kingdom with many other fellow guests.

The real reason to buy tickets for Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party is to see the special events that you would not normally see unless you were in the park on Christmas week.

Not to be missed is Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade. This is a special Holiday parade which is a great way to get into the Holiday spirit. The parade runs twice. Once at 8.15pm and then at 10.30pm. Most guests watch the first parade so if you want to cut your time in line for the rides then plan to be at the second parade.

Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season is another must see. This is the special Holiday Season fireworks display which is shown at 9.30pm. Holiday Wishes is one of the best loved of all the Disney fireworks displays and is a definite must see at this event.
The Magic Kingdom also has special stage shows for this event. The Celebrate The Season Show is shown in front of Cinderella Castle and A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas Show is held in the Tomorrowland Theater. Don’t forget to go to Belle’s Enchanted Christmas Show – this is held in Belle’s Fairytale Garden which is a very small area so be sure to arrive early if you want to see the show.

The Magic Kingdom Cinderella Castle Dream Lights are a spectacular sight. Cinderella’s Castle is an breaktaking sight at any time of the year, but with over 200,000 LED lights decorating it at Holiday time then it is a truly spectacular sight!

All your favorite Disney characters will be there dressed in their Holiday clothes and there are plenty of opportunities for meet and greet to take pictures and get autographs.

Another very nice feature of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the free hot cocoa and cookies. The nights can be suprisingly cold in Orlando in the winter months so what could be more fun than watching a Disney Holiday parade with a cup of warm cocoa in hand?

One of the most anticipated features of the Party is the snow on Main Street. Yes it really does snow in Florida – well with a bit of Disney Magic it does anyway.

The party runs from 7pm to midnight. Party ticket holders are given a special wrist band so that Cast Members can easily see that they are attending the event. In theory you will not be allowed in until the start of the event, unless you also have a separate ticket for the park that day, but in practice many guests do report that they are allowed in early.

Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party worth the extra money? As with everything of course reviews of the party show many different points of view but most of them come out on the side of positive. The complaint which is seen most often is that the event is crowded. This most definitely can be a problem, particularly the closer to Christmas you get. At other time the event is relatively quiet. If you don’t go there with the expectation that crowds will be light then this is probably the right mindset. Crowds do tend to thin out after the 10.30 parade so if you plan to stay until midnight you will get a better opportunity to get on more of the rides. The chance to see the Christmas parade and fireworks is really a great feature. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is something which is overall a great experience and the perfect chance to get into the Holiday spirit!
