It is important to understand how the Disney ticket system works so that you can choose the right one for your visit to Walt Disney World.

You start with a basic Magic Your Way Ticket. This allows you into the theme parks (not the water parks) for the amount of days stated on your tickets. The 2 to 10 day tickets will get you entry into all four of the Disney parks, namely Disney Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios.

If you want to add on options you can do this (subject to certain rules explained below).

Note that all prices quoted include Florida sales tax and are correct as at June 2013. In the land of the Disney parks an adult is anyone aged 10 and up. A child is aged between 3 and 9. Under 3s do not need a ticket.

Disney World tickets are no transferable. What that means is that only the person who first used them can use them for subsequent visits. Don’t try and get around this rule – it won’t work and it is against the law!

Here are all the prices of a basic Magic Your Way Disney World ticket for a 2 to 10 day ticket:

The way the 1 day Disney World tickets work is now a little different due to some changes made in June 2013. A 1 Day Magic Kingdom ONLY ticket is now $101.18 for adults and $94.79 for children. If you want to visit one of the other theme parks (Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios or Disney Animal Kingdom) the cost of a 1 day ticket is $95.85 for adults and $89.46 for children.

Disney World Park Hopper Tickets

The Magic Your Way base ticket allows you to visit one theme park on each day. If you think you want to visit more than one theme park on each day then you will need to upgrade and ad on a Disney World Park Hopper option.

The price is $36.21 to add a Park Hopper to a 1 day Magic Kingdom ticket. The upgrade costs $41.54 for a Park Hopper add on to a 1 day Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom ticket. For the 1 day tickets I would rarely say that it is ever a good option to add on a park hopper. If you only have one day to see the parks I would advise against park hopping unless there was a very specific reason.

It costs $62.84 to add a Park Hopper to any 2 day or longer Disney Magic Your Way Base Ticket.

The Park Hopper can be a very useful feature but of course it does add extra costs – a family of 4 will pay almost $250 to upgrade their tickets to a Park Hopper.

Disney World Water Park Fun and More

A Disney World Water Park Fun and More upgrade adds $62.84 to a Base ticket to any 2 day and more ticket and to a 1 day Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom Ticket. If you want to add a Water Park Fun and More to a 1 day Magic Kingdom ticket $57.51 is the upgrade price (although I really can’t see when you would want to do this)

The Water Park Fun and More Disney ticket upgrade gets you admission to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, or a round of golf at Oak Trail and a round of mini golf.

You get a pre set amount of admissions depending upon the amount of days on your Base ticket. So if you have a 4 day ticket you get 4 admissions, a 9 day ticket you get 9 and so on.

As with all Disney Magic Your Way tickets this will expire after 14 days ( so day of use plus 13 days). As a general rule if you are going to visit these places twice then you will save money on a separate admission price.

Disney World Tickets Non Expiration Option Cost

You can buy an Disney World ticket non expiration option. The costs of this are considerable so you do have to think about this very carefully.

With this non expiration option you can use your tickets any time in the future – that is if you remember where you have put them. Rumor has it that the majority of the non expiration options for ticket are never used!

How Do I Upgrade to Add on Options to My Magic Your Way Ticket?

You can add on options at any time until your ticket expires. All Disney tickets expire 14 days after first use. So you can upgrade within the first 14 days (which is counted as the day of first use plus 13 days after that) or before the admissions on the original tickets have expired.

Where Not To Buy Disney World Passes

There are scams out there. There have been a number of recent arrests in Orlando of ticket scammers. There is no need to fall victim to one of these. Just follow the simple rule to only ever buy direct from Disney World (either at the gate or online) or from Authorized Disney Ticket Agents.

Disney World tickets are never transferable so if someone is offering you un expired days off tickets or you are looking at sites like eBay or Craigslist just do not go there. Never, ever buy a Disney ticket unless it is from an authorized source.
