Do You Need a Balcony Stateroom on a Disney Alaska Cruise?
The very simple answer to this is that a balcony stateroom is always very nice to have, particularly for an Alaskan cruise.
However, balcony staterooms are almost always more expensive than Inside and Outside staterooms – and never more is this true on any Alaskan cruise that you may choose.
Let’s look at this price difference.
As you can see the rates for a balcony stateroom are considerably higher than for an Inside or Oceanview stateroom.
If we look at this 5 night cruise, the prices for the Inside Stateroom start at $3,500 and for the Verandah $6,600.
So not far off double the price.

Let’s Compare Prices Over Previous Years
These are all direct comparisons of 7-night Disney Cruises to Alaska since 2021. These are all opening day prices for each year – so you are comparing like with like.
You can see from these prices that they went down from 2021 to 2023.
The early May sailings are always the best prices – and we have even been seeing deals on the 2024 May sailings as recently as 2 months before sailing. These are the difficult ones to sell and therefore the best priced.
If you can sail on those first 2 sailings in early May then you really should think about booking those. I have sailed many times in Alaska and always in the “off-season” of May or September and the weather has been great.
You can see from the prices that they increase for that final sailing in May.

I thought it would be interesting to compare the prices of the opening day prices from past years for the longer cruises as well.
This is a direct comparison from the previous 3 years opening day prices.
Stateroom | 8/7/23 | 8/8/22 | 8/9/21 |
Inside | $4,247 | $4,395 | $4,164 |
Outside | $5,423 | $5,669 | $5,424 |
Verandah | $8,153 | $7,993 | $7,874 |
Concierge | $17,547 | $16,127 | $15,028 |
As you can see there has been a huge price increase since 2021.
An inside stateroom in 2021 on opening day was priced at $4,164 for a 9-night cruise. Now the opening price is $5,800.
Even compared with last year, the price jump is huge. From 2023 to 2024 the starting price of a verandah stateroom has gone from $8,153 to $11,290.
If you are thinking of sailing concierge the price increase is eye wateringly high. From $17,547 in 2023 to $25,024. And remember that is just the starting price. This is for a concierge family deluxe statereoom for 2 guests. We are not talking about the Walt Disney Suite!
