Disney Believe Reveal: What’s New and Why I Was Hoping for More

Sharing is caring!

Disney Cruise Line has finally revealed the Disney Believe – and we now know much more about what guests can expect when the newest Disney ship sets sail in late 2027.

Disney revealed the new details during a special livestream from the Disney Wish on October 7, including where Disney Believe will sail, its restaurants and bars, entertainment and some of the new spaces that will make this ship different from her Wish-class sisters.

I made a lot of predictions before the reveal – some of which turned out to be right, and others… not so much.

But what I really didn’t expect or predict was how very very underwhelmed I would feel about it.

There is only one thing I am truly excited about and I am not sure I can justify thousands of dollars just for this, to have the same itineraries, with very little else announced so far that interests me.

And the reveal show…. the less said the better (with the exception of the brilliant Susan Egan and the wonderful Encanto performance).

Here is what was announced:

Disney Believe Homeport is Port Everglades Fort Lauderdale

Disney has confirmed that Disney Believe will be based in Fort Lauderdale. This wasn’t a huge surprise as we already knew that Disney Destiny was going to Port Canaveral in November 2027 so that would leave a vacant spot

I am sure a lot of people aren’t going to be that pleased with this, but this is something that is fine for me. I enjoy Fort Lauderdale.

It is such an easy port, close to the airport. and has some great hotels.

The Disney Believe Maiden Voyage will sail on 18th December , 2027.

Disney Believe Itineraries

We now know that the first itineraries include four- and five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale, with visits to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean.

There really aren’t any surprises here.

Ports include Castaway Cay, Lighthouse Point, Cozumel and Nassau.

It is disappointing that there aren’t any new ports for Disney Believe. And this may mean that many people simply aren’t going to book. Possibly including me.

With the expansion of the fleet I had hoped that there would be a greater variety of port offerings by now. New York was added for Disney Wish, for a limited number of sailings, but we now know that DCL will be sailing essentially the same port destinations that she has been doing for many years now.

The hope is that when the new generation of ships are launched starting in 2029 that this will change and different ports are added.

Encanto Is What Excites Me About Disney Believe

Encanto coming to the Walt Disney Theatre is really the only announcement from the Disney Believe reveal that has excited me so far.

The music, the Madrigal family and their magical gifts have so much potential for a spectacular production. And I really want to see how Disney brings Casita to life on the Walt Disney Theatre stage.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius (don’t even ask me how many times I have seen Hamilton on stage) and that Encanto is going to be the new show is beyond exciting.

I don’t want to say this, but this is the only thing right now that is making me think I will book Disney Believe next week.

disneybelieveencanto

I love Tangled: The Musical, but it is already aboard Disney Magic. Seeing it announced for Disney Believe was disappointing.

It was announced that there will be additional special effects, and this is one of my favrotie DCL shows, but the announcement just left me rather flat.

I expected only one completely new show. I understand the immense cost and logistics of creating a production of this quality.

But at these premium prices, I still want more reasons to get excited about this particular ship.

The order of the reveal didn’t help.

Susan Egan was fabulous singing “When Will My Life Begin?”, but announcing Tangled before Encanto meant leading with something familiar when we were waiting for something new.

Encanto finally gave me that excitement. But possibly by that time, I was already disappointed – the reveal show was incredibly underwhelming.

Disney Believe Rotational Dining Restaurants

Well my predictions were correct but I really didn’t want them to be.

1923 and Worlds of Marvel will be on Disney Believe.

Realistically I didn’t think that would change, but I had hoped that maybe, just maybe, Worlds of Marvel would be reimagined completely. It could have been done.

At least a Groot remix has been announced for Worlds of Marvel.

Hopefully a new menu. No word on that yet.

The rotational dining restaurants are definitely not inspiring me to book Disney Believe.

The new restaurant is Oaken’s Table: A Frozen Family Feast.

So my prediction of a Frozen themed restaurant was correct. I didn’t really want it to be, but there we are.

disneybelieveoakensfamilyfeast

I enjoy Arendelle on Disney Wish. The show is entertaining and I enjoy the menu.

However, the lack of originality bothers me. Yes, Oaken’s Table will be a new show. And no doubt the menu will be different.

But it just seems like a lack of imagination here. We know that Frozen 3 is coming in November 2027 so the franchise lives on, but did we really have to have another Frozen restaurant.

A Frozen bar would have been so much more intersting. An actual ice bar!

The design of the Arendelle space leaves much to be desired, and I know that nothing much could be done about that. The tables as so close together it really isn’t worth having a private table, and many people can’t see the stage at all. I knew that nothing could be done about the fundamental design, but to basically have a repeat of the theme as well is disappointing.

Disney Believe Bars and Lounges

These are the new bars announced for Disney Believe.

All fine. Nothing that is really making me book on opening day.

Sea Notes

This Little Mermaid themed bar is going to be on Deck 3, in the space where Nightingales is on Disney Wish.

This piano bar is one of my favorite spaces on all the Wish class ships. The only issue is that there never seems to be enough space.

The problem wasn’t really resolved on Disney Treasure where an outdoor bar was added which is open to the Grand Hall. Yes, you can get a drink more easily, but that isn’t really the problem – I want to be able to actually get a seat inside.

This is a particular problem on Disney Destiny, where the brilliant Cruella de Vil show is very difficult to get into.

disneydestinyarielbar

I like the concept and the inclusion of a Little Mermaid space. Not sure about the name. Yes, I get it, but just doesn’t seem quite Little Mermaid enough!

Wishing Well

A Snow White themed bar will be in the open space occupied by The Bayou on Disney Wish.

snowwhitethemebardisneybelieve

This space is always beautifully themed and no doubt we will also see some innovative cocktails.

Skygazers Pub

Not really many details on this at all, other than it will be located on Deck 5, where Keg and Compass is on Disney Wish.

This is a promising concept and I look forward to seeing more details about this.

Is Haunted Mansion Parlor Coming to Disney Believe?

There was no major reveal, but it was confirmed that Haunted Mansion will be returning. The announcement was so brief to be honest, I actually missed it on the reveal.

Let’s hope that there will soon be an announcement that there will be a Nightmare Before Christmas twist and that this Disney Believe Haunted Mansion Parlor won’t simply be a copy of the bar on Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny.

Pixar on Disney Believe

Even though Woody and Buzz are the stern characters I thought that there would be more Pixar elements on Disney Believe.

It was announced that Inside Out will be the theme for the Sweet Shop on the pool deck. Again, this is rather disappointing as this is also on Disney Wish, but apparently it will be differently presented, even though the theme is the same.

But basically it is the same! How can this happen on a Disney ship with endless resources and the massive talent of the Imagineers.

Will I Book Disney Believe?

I expected to come away from this reveal wanting to book. Instead, I am still deciding.

Encanto is the one announcement that really excites me. But is one show enough to justify thousands of dollars for familiar itineraries and so many returning experiences?

I don’t expect everything aboard to be new. I do want more reasons to choose Disney Believe over the ships I already enjoy.

I may still book. But at these prices, I had hoped Disney would make that decision much easier.

Are you excited to sail on Disney Believe, or were you hoping for more too?
