Disney has announced price increases for many of the activities on Castaway Cay, including a 10% price increase on the Family Beach.
This takes the price of a Castaway Cay Cabana on the Family Beach to $549 from $499. The adult-only beach cabanas at Serenity Bay remain unchanged at $399.
The price increases will take effect for the first sailing of 2014. If guests have previously pre-booked excursions and cabanas they will still get them at the old prices.
The Castaway Cay Cabanas are extremely popular and sell out online in minutes of becoming available. Disney built 4 new cabanas to keep up with demand but really this didn’t do much to ease the pressure on bookings.
The prices of many of the Castaway Cay rentals have increased. The highest price increases are a whopping 80% on some of the boat rentals.
I am now, of course, regretting the fact that I didn’t pre-book for our cruise in February.
For example, the 4 Seater Paddle Boat was $10 and has now increased to $18, the 1 seater Kayak has increased from $8 to $14, float tube rental has increased from $6 to $10.
So the float tubes which would have cost us $30 are now going to be $50 for the 5 of us. Bike rental has also suffered the same price increase from $6 to $10.
One of the few prices that remains the same are for the Stand-Up Paddle Boards at $15 – I am guessing that demand for these is not as great as the other boat rentals.

Of course, the price increases are substantial but they haven’t increased in many years. Disney knows that there is the demand and my guess is that people will still keep paying for the rentals – particularly the cabanas.
The demand is so high for the Castaway Cay cabanas that you pretty much have to be a concierge guest or Platinum Castaway Cay member to reserve one before they are all sold. It is doubtful that the price increase will have any impact on that.
What do you think about the price increase for the Castaway Cay Cabanas?
