Before You Book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a Disney Cruise, Read This

Sharing is caring!

If you are sailing on a Disney Cruise with a child who loves Disney Princesses, Captain Minnie, Captain Mickey or pirates, you may be wondering about the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

This is one of those Disney cruise experiences that can turn into a very special vacation memory.

Children aged 3 to 12 can have their hair styled, enjoy a little Disney magic and, depending on the package you choose, transform into their favorite character.

There are several different makeover options, with prices ranging from around $60 to more than $200.

Here is a look at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Pirate makeover packages currently available on the Disney ships.

Disney Fantasy Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Packages

Kingdom Package — $229.95

The Kingdom Package is the most complete princess makeover shown on the menu.

For $229.95, it includes:

  • Hairstyling
  • Shimmering makeup
  • Princess necklace, ring, sash and themed bag
  • Nail polish
  • Disney Princess gown of your choice
  • Coordinating accessories

The big difference with this package is that the Disney Princess gown and coordinating accessories are included.

If your child has always wanted the full princess transformation, this is the package that gives them that experience.

Captain Minnie Package — $229.95

The Captain Minnie Package also costs $229.95 and is perfect for a child who would rather become part of the Disney Cruise Line crew than a princess.

It includes:

  • Hairstyling
  • Shimmering makeup
  • Sash and themed bag
  • Nail polish
  • Autograph book and pen
  • Captain Minnie costume set and headband

This is a particularly fun option for children who love Minnie Mouse and want something a little different from the traditional princess makeover.

Captain Mickey Package — $179.95

The Captain Mickey Package costs $179.95

It includes:

  • Hairstyling with confetti and gel
  • Themed bag
  • Autograph book and pen
  • Captain Mickey costume and hat

So there is a $50 difference between this package and the Captain Minnie option.

Fairytale Package — $119.95

The Fairytale Package costs $119.95

It includes:

  • Hairstyling
  • Shimmering makeup
  • Princess sash and themed bag
  • Nail polish
  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique T-shirt

The important thing to notice is that this package does not include a Disney Princess gown.

That could actually make it a very good option if you already have a princess dress at home that your child wants to wear.

You still get the hair, makeup, nail polish and magical makeover experience without paying for another costume.

Disney Cruise Pirate Makeover Packages

All of these packages are exclusive for Pirate Night.

If your child would rather become a pirate than a princess, there are also Pirate makeover packages available on Pirate Party Night.

Pirate Makeup and Accessories Package — $59.95

This is the least expensive Pirate makeover option at $59.95.

It includes:

  • Makeup application
  • Cinch bag
  • Pirate accessories
  • Bandana
  • Eye patch
  • Earring
  • Sword

Swashbuckle Package — $99.95

The Swashbuckle Package costs $99.95.

It includes:

  • Pirate vest and waist belt
  • Makeup application
  • Cinch bag
  • Bandana
  • Eye patch
  • Earring
  • Sword

This adds the pirate vest and waist belt to the makeover.

Pirate Costume Package — $199.95

The most elaborate Pirate option costs $199.95.

It includes:

  • Choice of pirate costume
  • Makeup application
  • Cinch bag
  • Bandana
  • Eye patch

If your child wants the complete pirate transformation, this is the package to consider.

What Age Can Use Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

There is an important distinction between the full makeover and simply getting a little pixie dust.

Disney Cruise Line currently says that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers are for guests ages 3 through 12.

But that doesn’t mean the little ones or adults have to miss out on the magic.

Note that adults can get the Pirate Makeup and Accessories so you will be all ready for Pirate Night!

Don’t Forget the Pixie Dust

One of my favorite little Disney Cruise Line tips is to ask about Pixie Dusting at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Pixie dusting is a much simpler experience than booking a full makeover.

A Fairy Godmother’s Apprentice can sprinkle a little pixie dust over a guest’s hair, adding some extra Disney magic to the day.

And the really fun part?

Pixie dusting isn’t just for children who are old enough for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

It can be a lovely option for little ones who are under 3, who are too young for the full makeover, and yes, adults can get pixie dusted too.

So if you have a toddler who sees an older sibling getting a princess makeover, they don’t have to feel left out.

And if you’re an adult Disney fan, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t have a little pixie dust too!

Pixie dusting has also traditionally been offered without the need to book a full makeover appointment.

It’s a tiny bit of Disney magic, but it can make an ordinary cruise day feel just a little more special.

When Can You Book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

This is something I would not leave until you are onboard.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is popular, and appointments can be limited.

If your child has their heart set on a particular package or wants their makeover on a specific evening, you should try to reserve it as soon as your booking window opens.

Disney Cruise Line’s advance booking windows are based on your Castaway Club membership level.

The booking windows are:

  • First-time Disney Cruise Line guests: 75 days before sailing
  • Silver Castaway Club members: 90 days before sailing
  • Gold Castaway Club members: 105 days before sailing
  • Platinum Castaway Club members: 120 days before sailing
  • Pearl Castaway Club members: 123 days before sailing
  • Concierge guests: 130 days before sailing by contacting the Shoreside Concierge team, or 123 days before sailing through the Disney Cruise Line website

My advice is simple: if this is important to your child, book it as soon as you can.

Don’t assume you can just wait until you get on the ship and find a convenient appointment.

How to Book Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Once your booking window opens, you can make your reservation through your Disney Cruise Line account or the app.

The process is:

  1. Log in to your Disney Cruise Line account online or in the Navigator App.
  2. Go to My Reservations.
  3. Select My Plans.
  4. Choose the day you would like the appointment from your day-by-day itinerary.
  5. Select Add Activities in the Onboard Activities Section.
  6. Choose Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique from the available activities.
  7. Review your choices, add them to your cart and complete the checkout process.

I’d make this one of the first things you look at when your booking window opens.

Which Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Package Should You Choose?

That really depends on what your child wants.

If they want to become a Disney Princess and want the gown included, the Kingdom Package at $229.99 is the obvious choice.

If you already have a princess dress, the Fairytale Package at $119.99 could be much better value.

For Disney Cruise Line fans, the Captain Minnie Package at $229.99 and Captain Mickey Package at $179.99 offer something completely different from the princess options.

And if your child would rather become a pirate, there are three Pirate makeover choices ranging from $59.95 to $199.95.

The important thing is to look carefully at what each package includes. There is a significant difference between the prices, and you don’t necessarily need to choose the most expensive option for your child to have a magical experience.

This Is Also a Great Time for Character Photos

If you’re going to have your child transformed into a princess, Captain Mickey, Captain Minnie or a pirate, I would also think about how you are going to capture the moment.

The Disney Fantasy has professional photographers around the ship, including opportunities for character photographs.

So this could be a really good time to consider the Disney Cruise Photo Package too.

Imagine having professional photographs of your child in their new costume with some of their favorite Disney characters.

Those are the sorts of photographs that are impossible to recreate once you’re home.

Is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Worth It?

There is no getting around the fact that this can be an expensive extra.

Spending $229.99 on a makeover is very different from spending $119.99 on the Fairytale Package or $59.95 for the basic Pirate makeover.

But I think the question is less about how long the hairstyle lasts and more about the experience.

For many families, seeing their child’s face when they look in the mirror for the first time is the part they remember.

And then you have the photographs, the costume and all the opportunities to continue the Disney magic around the ship.

If you’re considering Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, my biggest advice is to plan ahead and book as soon as your booking window opens.

The whole experience is popular, and you don’t want your child to have their heart set on a particular package only to discover that the appointments have gone.

And if the full makeover isn’t right for your family — or your little one is too young — don’t forget about the simplest bit of magic of all.

Sometimes, all you need is a little pixie dust.
