DisneyBand+ Coming to Disney Wish

Sharing is caring!

We all knew this was going to happen one day and now we have the word that the Magic Band technology is coming to Disney Wish this Summer.

Many of us are familiar with the Magic Band at Disney World. Disney has made a huge investment in wearable technology to enhance the guest experience.

Now the new DisneyBand+ will be introduced to the Disney Wish in the Summer of 2023.

No word yet as to the exact date that the DisneyBand+ will start functioning on Disney Wish.

Neither is there any indication of when and indeed if this technology will be coming to the other Disney ships in the fleet.

However, these are the words from the Disney Cruise Website which seem to suggest this will be introduced to all Disney ships at some point in the future:

Guests booked on select Disney Wish sailings in Summer 2023 will be invited to be among the first to experience DisneyBand+ before it makes its official debut.

Of course, there will be some exclusive new designs to choose from.

With DisneyBand+, you’ll be able to unlock the hands-free conveniences of wearable technology on the

For the kids onboard they can use the DisneyBand+ instead of the Oceaneer Club Band. Does anyone remember those days of the plastic tag that was always put on just a little bit too tight on your little one’s wrist – seems like things have come a long way since then.

What Will the DisneyBand+ Do?

Here are the features of DisneyBand+

  • Hands-free Convenient Boarding Experience
  • Stateroom Door Opening
  • Tap to Pay for Merchandise
  • Works with Onboard Photos
  • Enchanting Surprises

No idea what the enchanting surprises are but the other features are pretty useful!

Can I Use a MagicBand?

The good news is that if you already have a Magic Band you will be able to use this on Disney Wish as soon as the technology is rolled out in the summer.

Is This The End of the Key to the World?

We are not saying goodbye to the trusty Key to the World card.

Just as you can use an actual ticket that looks like a credit card at Disney World, the Key to the World card will still work just as it always did.

However, you will have the option to purchase a DisneyBand+.

How Do I Purchase a DisneyBand+?

This is the information from the Disney Parks Website

While DisneyBand+ is not yet available for purchase, DisneyBand+ will roll out on the Disney Wish (available on select select ships and itineraries) and can be purchased in advance of your sailing or on board the ship. While rollout dates have not yet been announced, we invite you to check back for more details coming soon. International Guests may purchase at a merchandise shop on board.

Once DisneyBand+ has debuted on the Disney Wish, you can order a DisneyBand+ by visiting My Reservations between 11 and 45 days of your sail date, if your reservation is paid in full (while supplies last). If you would like to customize your DisneyBand+ with your name and an available color before your sailing, you must do so at least 11 days before your voyage, after reserving your stateroom. When you customize your DisneyBand+, the printed name will appear on the inside of the band.

Order before you embark to save $10 off the onboard price of each band—and harness the power of wearable technology as you make your way aboard the ship. (Pre-arrival orders currently available to US residents with a valid US address traveling on the Disney Wish, subject to availability. Orders must be placed at least 11 days prior to sail date. See offer details below.) You can also purchase on board during your sailing or use your MagicBand+ from Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort to unlock the power of DisneyBand+.

*Pre-arrival offer is currently available to US residents with a fully paid reservation on the Disney Wish. Order must be placed between 45 and 11 days of the sailing. Credit card will be charged when the order is shipped. DisneyBand+ orders cannot be cancelled, returned, refunded or exchanged—even if the Disney cruise reservation is cancelled. Shipping is available to valid US addresses (including US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) only; shipping is not available to PO Boxes, APO, FPO, DPO, United States ports, or international addresses. Pricing may vary. Designs subject to availability. Cannot be combined with other offers or discounts. Offer is subject to restrictions and change without notice.

Im glad the ships are finally doing this but does it mean that if you already have a magic band + that it won’t work on the ship? You have to buy one specifically for DCL?

If you already have a Magic Band from the parks you will be able to use it on the Disney Cruise Ships when the technology is rolled out.
