Disneyland at Christmas time is a very magical place. With all the decorations and special attractions Christmas time is a special celebration for Disneyland. Holidays at Disneyland run from Nov. 12 through Jan. 6, 2013 so there is still time to go and experience this very special season.
Here are some of our favorite attractions to experience during the Holidays at Disneyland. There are so many things to do at Disneyland at Christmas time!
Disney Cars Land at Christmas
This is the first year that Disney Cars Land has featured in the California Adventure park and the Pixar animation and the Disney Imagineers have certainly made sure that this debut is very special. One of the first things that they realized was that this is a land where cars live, not people, so the decorations should reflect that.
You will find of decorations made of hub caps, traffic cones, oil cans, and other cars memorabilia. There is even a giant tree made out of tires! We hear that the decorations took 6 days to install – twice as long as they had anticipated.
Here is a video from Disney parks giving you a taste of what to expect in Cars Land at Christmas time!
When visiting Cars Land do not forget to ride on Radiator Springs Racers – this is one of the very best Disney park attractions and should not be missed. Just make sure that you get a Fast Pass as it is very popular!
Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle
The Sleeping Beauty Castle is always a beautiful sight but at Christmas time it is particularly stunning. During the Holidays the Disneyland Castle is sprinkled with snow, and has 80,000 twinkling lights. You must make sure that you are in the park after dusk as the Sleeping Beauty Winter Castle is spectacular at night.
The Sleeping Beauty Winter Castle is of course the back drop for another Disneyland Christmas time favorite – the Believe in Holiday Magic fireworks show. This is a must see for your trip to Disneyland. This 13 minute show is one of the most beloved of all the Disney fireworks shows. And of course you must see the snow fall on Main Street!
Disneyland A Christmas Fantasy Parade
No visit to Disneyland is complete without watching the parade – and Christmas time is no exception! The Christmas Fantasy Parade is another big favorite complete with reindeers, skating snowflakes, ballerinas, Disney Princesses and of course Santa makes an appearance. To get you best viewing spot you do have to stake it out early but the wait is certainly worth it!
Disneyland It’s A Small World at Christmas Time
Another Disneyland attraction which is completely transformed for the Holidays is It’s A Small World. This is our favorite time of year to ride It’s A Small World – a wonderfully over the top celebration of the Holidays around the world.
Try to visit It’s A Small World after dark as the lights on the outside are beautiful. The interior of the ride is also completely transformed – even the music has a Holiday theme.
Disneyland Haunted Mansion Holiday at Time
The Holidays are our absolute favorite time to experience The Haunted Mansion. The inspiration is Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas and The Haunted Mansion is transformed into a Jack Skellington extravaganza. Halloween meets Christmas time – and the result is amazing.
The outside of the Haunted Mansion gives you a taste of the extravagance and spookiness inside. Pumpkins, candles, fake snow – it is all there in the line for this amazing attraction. Overly decorated works though!
Inside the Haunted Mansion you will see lots of additional audio animatronic figures. And one of the best features is the huge Gingerbread House which sits on the dining table in the iconic ballroom scene. There is so much to look at it can be an overload of the senses. Try and ride it at least twice so that you can take everything in.
Disneyland at Christmas time is one of the best seasons to visit. Holidays at Disneyland started on Nov. 12 and run through Jan. 6, 2013.
