Disney Wonder Staterooms

Here is a complete guide to Disney Wonder and Magic staterooms so that you can decide which one to choose for your cruise vacation. Disney cruise line is known for it’s larger than industry standard staterooms. As you would expect the attention to detail, overall design, and standards of furnishings are excellent.

The Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic are both the same basic design of ship. These means that the stateroom descriptions and categories are almost exactly the same for both of these Disney cruise ship.

What are the different types of Disney Wonder and Magic Staterooms?

There are 9 different categories of stateroom on the Disney Wonder. These are Categories 11 to 4 for staterooms with 3 Categories of Suite. The staterooms are also divided into sub categories according to which deck they are on and for some according to the view they have from the window or balcony. Higher decks are seen as more desirable so will usually be in a higher priced sub category. Obstructed view staterooms will usually be in a lower sub category.

You will see that most of the staterooms have what is known as a ‘split bathroom’. What this means is that there are 2 separate rooms. One has the shower over a small bath, and a separate sink vanity. The other has the toilet and another sink vanity.

Standard Inside Stateroom

These are Category 11 staterooms. Each is 184 square feet and have a Queen size bed or 2 Twin beds with a single convertible sofa bed. There is a privacy divider between the main sleeping and the living area. There is also a bathroom. The standard inside staterooms are the only staterooms not to have a split bath arrangement.

Each Standard Inside Stateroom sleeps up to 3 or 4 guests. They are located on Decks 2, 5, 6 and 7.

Deluxe Inside Stateroom

If you are looking for an inside stateroom with quite a bit more space then at 214 square feet then the Category 10 Deluxe Inside Stateroom would be a good choice.

Each Deluxe Inside Stateroom sleeps up to 4 guests and has a Queen bed or 2 Twins with a single convertible sofa. These staterooms feature the very popular split bathroom.

These staterooms are located on Decks 1, 2 and 7

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom

These are the same size and design as the Inside staterooms but they have either one large or two small windows. The Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms are all Category 9 and have 214 square feet of space with a Queen or 2 twins and a single sleeper sofa. There is a split bathroom.

Oceanview staterooms are on Decks 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7. The staterooms on Deck 1 have the smaller windows and therefore not such a good view.

Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Navigator’s Verandah

These Staterooms are a unique design to the Disney Wonder and Magic cruise ships. They have an enclosed private verandah, so you have more space and view, but you do not have any outside space.

There are just 26 of these are true Navigator’s Verandah staterooms on Disney Wonder and Magic. They are very popular and tend to be booked quickly. They are classified as Category 7 staterooms. All are located on decks 5, 6 and 7.

There are another 4 staterooms (6134, 6634, 7120, 7620) which are category 7 and are described as Navigator’s verandah staterooms, but they do not have the enclosed verandah. They have verandahs with obstructed views as they are located on Deck 6 aft and wrap around the hull. They can be a good choice though if you are aware of this, and want to save some money instead of going to a Category 6 or 5 Verandah stateroom.

The Navigator’s Verandah staterooms are 268 square feet including the verandah. The Sleep up to 3 guests and have a Queen or 2 Twin beds with a single sofa bed. They also have the split bathroom.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

These staterooms are 268 square feet (including the verandah) and have a Queen size bed or 2 twins and a single sleeper sofa. They sleep up to 4 guests. All of these Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms are classified as either Category 5 or 6.

There are 114 Category 5 Staterooms on the Wonder and Magic and they are all of Deck 7. Category 6 are on decks 5 and 6 and have slightly larger verandahs.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

These are all Category 4 and are located on Deck 8. These are a great option for larger families as they sleep up to 5 guests.

Each Family Oceanview stateroom has a Queen or 2 Twin beds, a convertible sofa and a pull down bed. The design of the room makes great use of the space available but access to the verandah is a little difficult (but still possible) when the pulldown bed is still down. Your steward will move this for you each morning and evening though if you are using it for a 5th guest.

As will all of the non suite staterooms on the Disney Wonder and Magic except the standard inside rooms, this has the split bath feature.

Concierge 1 Bedroom Suite with Verandah

These are the Category T staterooms which sleep up to 5 guests and have 614 square feet of space. These suites have a separate bedroom with a Queen size bed and a separate living room with a double sofa bed. All the suites also have a pull down twin bed (some are in the living area, others in the bedroom).

A great feature of the suite is that it has 2 bathrooms. The verandah is very spacious at double the width of standard verandahs on the ship.

All of the Concierge One Bed Suites are located on Deck 8. They are very popular and are usually amongst the first categories to book as there are only 18 available.

Concierge 2 Bedroom Suite with Verandah

At 945 square feet (which includes the triple wide verandah) these beautiful suites give you plenty of space. Each suite is in Category S.

They have 2 bedrooms which each have a Queen size bed. The living area has a double sofa bed. There are walk in closets, wet bar, a DVD player and a total of two and a half bathrooms )one has a jacuzzi tub).

Again these suites book up very quickly. There are 2 suites on the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic both of which are located on Deck 8. The sleep up to 7 guests.

Concierge Royal Suite with Verandah

If you want the ultimate in luxury then Category R Royal Suites will certainly make you very happy! There are only 2 suites on each ship and they are named the Walter E. Disney Suite and the Roy O. Disney Suite. Both are located on Deck 8.

Each suite sleeps up to 7 guests in unrivaled comfort. They have 2 bedrooms. One has a Queen bed and the other has 2 twin beds and 2 pull down beds.

There is a large living room with a wall pull down bed, dining area, wet bar, and walk in closets. The suites have 2 and a half bathrooms (one with a jacuzzi tub).

With 1029 square feet of total area including the verandah you are going to have a lot of space to enjoy.

Whichever stateroom you choose you will be staying in some of the very best at sea – from the inside staterooms to the suites there is something for everyone. But it is important to make your choice carefully. Talk this over with your Disney travel agent who should have experience of each room type and be able to advise you not just about pricing but also help you find the very best stateroom for your budget.

Not all staterooms are created equally – even within the same Category. The location can also be very important. Do you want to be close to the pool, the restaurants, the theater? And some are best avoided as they are noisier than others or do not have such a great view. To help you decide all of these things make sure you book with a Disney cruise specialist.

Disney Cruise to Hawaii 2012

If you wanted to book a Disney cruise to Hawaii for 2012 and thought you had missed out then here is your chance again to get a stateroom for the cruise which sails out of Los Angeles on 29th April. This is Disney’s first ever cruise to Hawaii and when the dates were released they sold out fast. But as often happens some of the staterooms are now available again as guests decided not to go ahead and confirm the bookings. So once again you have a chance to book a fabulous Disney cruise to Hawaii.

The Disney Wonder cruise ship will sail to Hawaii twice in 2012. Once on April 29th and then again on October 14th. Each cruise will be 14 nights and will visit Hilo on Hawaii, Kahului on Hawaii, Honolulu on the island of Oahu and Nawilwili on Kauai. There is one final port stop in Ensenada Mexico before you sail back home to Los Angeles.

Here is the full itinerary for the Disney Hawaii cruises:

Sunday Los Angeles
Monday At Sea
Tuesday At Sea
Wednesday At Sea
Thursday At Sea
Friday Hilo, Hawaii
Saturday Kahului, Hawaii
Sunday Honolulu, Oahu
Monday Nawilwili, Kauai

A 14 night cruise gives you plenty of time to truly relax and enjoy a vacation. There is a lot of time at sea on this cruise but for some (including me) that is a huge part of the appeal. How often do you go on a trip only to find yourself at the end of it, more exhausted than when you started out? Sometimes it is a good idea just to step back and take some time to truly relax, and even perfect the art of doing nothing, if only for a few days!

Of course there is so much to do on a Disney cruise you are always going to have something to keep you occupied. Disney cruises are very family orientated but there is something for all ages to enjoy. Don’t think that this one is just for the kids because the adults are not going to want the cruise experience to end either!

What is so special about a Disney cruise? The great designs of the ships include many industry firsts such as rotational dining (where your wait staff go with you as you dine in the different restaurants). The staterooms are up to 25% larger than others in the industry. This makes a huge difference, particularly when you are sailing on a longer cruise. The children’s entertainment and kids clubs are the very best at sea. And of course you have the Disney magic. It is difficult to put into words if you have never sailed on a Disney ship, but the standard of service is exceptional and the attention to detail is not something you usually find with other cruise lines. Disney always excels at putting on a show and you can experience Broadway quality entertainment every night on your cruise.

The Disney Dream was a brand new ship in 2011 and since she was launched she has proved to be very popular with many dates selling out quickly. The Disney Dream is 40% larger than the original Disney Dream and Wonder ships. One of the major attractions is the first water coaster at sea – The Aquaduck. This thrilling 785 water slide is a cruise industry first.

As with all of the Disney cruise ships there is something on board for all ages. The Disney Dream is very much a family orientated ship. Disney has the very best kids club program at sea with almost a whole deck devoted to the younger members of the family. The sometimes difficult to please teenagers have a very innovative space including an outdoor deck at The Vibe. The adults are not left out – the Dream has 11 lounges and night clubs.

Another area where Disney excels is in onboard entertainment. This really is Disney at it’s best and the stage shows are spectacular. The shows on the Dream are ‘Disney’s Believe” “The Golden Mickeys: A Timeless Tribute” and “Villains Tonight”. The entertainment is not just the stage shows of course. The Dream has a great movie theater where Disney movies are shown.

Disney cruise lines is known for it’s larger than average staterooms, and innovative spilt bathroom design. The subtly themed staterooms give lots of space and nice Disney touches. Some of the most popular staterooms are the inside cabins which have another industry first – virtual portholes. You may not have a window but the virtual porthole will give you a view of outside, and maybe some surprises when Nemo or Mickey and his friends swim past.

You have a great range of dining options on the Disney Dream too. Disney is the only cruise line which has ‘rotational dining’. What this means is that you dine in a different restaurant each evening, but that your waiters come with you. This is a really great idea as then your waiters get to know you and your family so that they can be of better service to you. If you want to experience premier dining then there are 2 options on the Disney Dream – Palo and Remy. There are also plenty of casual dining options including Cabanas the buffet dining location.

Usually these offers sell out quickly so if you are interested then talk to a Disney Authorized Travel Agent as soon as possible. Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship Progress

The final piece of the Disney Fantasy cruise ship was placed and now the exterior of the latest Disney Cruise Line ship is complete. Work will now start on the interior of the fourth ship which will join the Disney Wonder, Magic and Dream as part of the Disney Cruise Line fleet. She is set to sail on her maiden voyage on 31st March 2012.

The Disney Fantasy is based on the same design as the Disney Dream but it’s interior will have some features which are different from it’s sister ship. So how will the Disney Fantasy be different from the Disney Dream?

Animation Magic

Like all the other Disney ships the Fantasy will feature an Animator’s Palate Restaurant. But the one on the Fantasy will invite all it’s guests to try their hand at being a Disney artist. Guests will be able to draw a character of their own using a simple template on their place mat. Later on in the meal the pictures will be projected onto a screen so that everyone can enjoy seeing what they have created. The Animator’s Palate experience is a very magical one on all the Disney cruise ships – definitely not to be missed.

Europa Entertainment District

Europa is the night time entertainment district on the Disney Fantasy. As you probably guessed by the name, the inspiration for this space is Europe. The bars and lounges, which are for over 18s only in the evenings, are inspired by the look and feel of Italy, Ireland, France and England. The Tube is designed around a London Underground theme, La Piazza the outdoor plazas of Italy, O’Gills Pub is a lively Irish themed bar, and Ooh La La has a French boudoir theme.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has long been a popular destination for anyone wanting to be transformed into a Disney Princess in Walt Disney World, but the Disney Fantasy will be the first cruise ship to have it’s own Princess transformation center. I would guess that this is going to prove to be a hugely popular feature on the Disney Fantasy.

The Disney Fantasy will of course have the same features which have proved to be so popular on the Disney Dream. The AquaDuck water coaster will be there. And so will the Virtual Portholes which have proved so popular with guests staying in the inside staterooms on the Disney Dream.

The Disney Fantasy will give guests the chance to have longer cruises than the Disney Dream. The Fantasy will sail out of Port Canaveral Florida from March 2012 on mainly 7 night cruise itineraries to the Caribbean.

Disney Cruise Alaska 2012

The Disney Cruise Alaska 2012 itineraries are now available to book. The Disney Wonder will sail out of Seattle in 2012 for 7 night cruises to Alaska.

The Alaska itinerary for 2012 for the Disney Wonder is:

Monday Seattle
Tuesday At Sea
Wednesday Tracy Arm
Thursday Skagway
Friday Juneau
Saturday Ketchikan
Sunday At Sea/Victoria, BC
Monday Seattle

An Alaska cruise is one of those once in a lifetime experiences. The scenery is truly breakthtaking. And I can think of no better ship to experience it on than the Disney Wonder.

This is a change from 2011 when the Disney Wonder sailed out of Vancouver. The decision to move the home port from Vancouver to Seattle was a contraversial one, but Disney Cruise Lines decided that the Seattle port was more accessible for most US guests. The port of Seattle is one of the best in the US, with easy access from the airport.

The sail dates are May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20, and August 27, 2012.

The Disney Wonder is one of the original cruise ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Disney Wonder cruise ship is 964 ft and carries around 2,400 passengers which can increase to 3,000 if all the staterooms are at maximum capacity. Disney Wonder has has 877 cabins. 252 inside and 625 outside.

Disney Cruise Line is known for it’s family friendly cruises and well designed staterooms. Their staterooms are up to 25% larger than the industry standard – a very welcome innovation, particularly when cruising with a family. Disney is also one of the few cruise lines to offer staterooms which sleep up to 5 guests. This can mean conseiderable savings for families of 5 as the do not have to book 2 staterooms or an expensive suite as they do on most of the other cruise lines.

There is plenty to keep every member of the family occupied onboard the Disney Wonder. Whether you want to spend some alone time, or enjoy the many family activites on board, Disney Cruise Line has everything covered. As you would expect Disney is very good at keeping the children entertained day and night, but it also caters very well for the adults. There are separate areas and activities for the adults on the Disney Wonder. The grown ups can relax in the Quiet Cove Pool whilst the children are having fun in the Oceaneers Lab. Teens get a special area they can call their own on Deck 11 – this sometimes hard to please age group is sure to be happy on a Disney Cruise.

Disney is the master of entertainment and you can expect the very best stage shows at Sea. Enjoy Toy Story The Musical, Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams an Enchanted Classic.

Dining on a Disney Cruise is also a magical experience. Disney is the only cruise line to have rotational dining. What does this mean? There are 3 restaurants on the Disney Wonder, Tritons, Parrot Cay and Animators Palate. On each Disney cruise you will experience each restaurant at least once. The unique feature is that your wait staff will rotate with you so you will always have the same servers each day. This is a really excellent feature. You get the best of both worlds. A change of restaurant but with servers who know your likes and dislikes, and who have had the time to get to know your family. The Disney servers are some of the very best at sea so you will soon feel very much at home.

Why chose Disney for an Alaskan cruise? There are many other cruise lines which you could choose to sail to Alaska with – many of them sailing out of Seattle. And it is true that Disney is one of the more expensive choices. But if you are looking for a very high quality experience sailing some of the most breathtakingly beautiful water in the world then Disney is an excellent choice for your Alask cruise.

Are there any special discounts on Disney cruises to Alaska? 2011 was the first year which Disney sailed to Alaska. It did have very limited kids sail free offers for select dates in 2011 – but you can never guarantee that the same will happen again. It will all depend upon how well the Disney Alaska cruises are selling for 2012. Usually it is best to book as early as possible to get the best prices. With other cruise lines sometimes you do get a last minute bargain, but Disney cruises are very very popular so the usual problem if you leave it too long to book is that you cannot get a stateroom at all. 2011 has been one of the very best years ever for Disney Cruise Lines and their ships, particularly the new Disney Dream have been sailing at capacity. So do not leave it too long to book – if you know that you want to sail on a Disney Cruise the usual trend is that the earlier you book the cheaper it will be, and of course you will get much more a choice of staterooms than if you leave it until the last moment.

Disney Fantasy Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

One of the great successes of the Disney Parks is set to launch on the Disney Fantasy when she sails in March 2012. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be located on Deck 5 of the Disney Fantasy, which is the place where the Oceaneer’s Club and Lab will be. So the little ones won’t have far to go to get their very special Princess or Pirate make over.

Children can choose from the packages which are also offered at the Boutique in Walt Disney World. Disney Diva, the Pop Princess and the Fairy Tale Princes are available. Children are transformed by their own Fairy Godmother with hair makeup and nails. If you want the full treatment then of course costumes, crowns and wands are always available to complete the final look.

The Disney Fantasy Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will also have options not available in the parks. Captain Mickey Mouse, Princess Minnie Mouse and First Mate Minnie Mouse will be offered on the Disney Fantasy. Under the Sea packages will also be available.

Pirate Night on a Disney cruise is always a great excuse to dress up and now everyone can get some assistance if they want to. Even the grown ups! If you want to achieve that Captain Jack Sparrow look then Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be glad to assist.

No details have been released yet about the prices on Disney Fantasy but my guess would be that the rates would be similar to the Boutiques in the parks. In Disney World and Disneyland the most basic package is $49.95. If you want a costume, wand, crown and photos then the package is up to $250. Much cheaper for boys at $12.95 but then of course there is a lot less done, as they just have their hair gelled and receive a shield and a sword!

It is a sure bet that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will be hugely popular on the Disney Fantasy. It is likely that advance bookings will be required particularly on Pirate Night!

Disney Fantasy Animator’s Palate

One of the most amazing experiences on a Disney cruise is their excellent choice of restaurants. Disney cruise line has announced that there will be a new twist on the very popular restaurant Animator’s Palate when the Fantasy is launched in March 2012. Animator’s Palate is already one of the most popular restaurants on the Disney ships. The restaurant is well known for it’s dinner show where the walls (and indeed the waiters jackets) change from black and white to color. The whole dining experience ends when Mickey Mouse makes a magical appearance.

The new Disney Fantasy cruise ship will feature a new show in the restaurant. Animation Magic at Animator’s Palate will let every guest show their animation and drawing skills. And your art may even be featured in the final show.

Every diner will have the chance to draw a Disney character on their place mat. Guests will give the sketches to their waiters and wait to see if their drawing has been included in the animation show at the end of the evening.

This is another way in which Disney distinguishes itself from other cruise lines. The restaurant experiences are not just about the food. They are about the food, the exceptional service, and the art of entertainment in a truly Disney way. No other cruise line comes close to offering those special experiences which cruisers will remember for a long time to come.
