The Disney Cinderella movie was an magical recreation of the classic fairytale. It wasn’t exactly a direct copy of the original Disney movie but it was satisfying close – a slightly, but not too modern reworking of the Disney Cinderella classic movie.
Oh and the costumes for Cinderella are just beautiful. Forget the story just look at those beautiful costumes designed by Oscar-winning costume designer Sandy Powell.
The 2015 Cinderella movie has been a big success for Disney – grossing over $500 million worldwide and of course set to make much more once the DVD is released.
Lily James (of Downton Abbey fame) was a beautiful Cinderella. Cate Blanchett was a very wicked Lady Tremaine. The role of Prince Charming must have been difficult to cast but Richard Madden does a fabulous job.
The ugly stepsisters were perhaps not seen as much as they should have been but Sophie McShera as Drisella, Holliday Grainger as Anastasia were fine but not outstanding. One character who definitely had a modern twist was the Fairy Godmother. Only Helena Bonham Carter could play both the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter.
