When you book a Disney Cruise, most people focus on:
- Inside vs Oceanview vs Verandah
- Aft, Forward or Midship location
- Budget
- Deck number
But on the Disney Wish class ships, there’s something else that matters — something many guests don’t realize until after they book.

Every stateroom has a specific Disney character theme.
And that theme is determined by your exact stateroom number.
Two cabins right next to each other can feature completely different Disney stories.
If theme matters to you (or your kids!), this is something you need to know before you book.
First Things First: Choose the Right Stateroom Category
Before you even start thinking about themes, you need to make sure you’ve chosen the right type of cabin for your travel style.
Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, or Concierge all feel very different.

If you’re still deciding between categories, start here:

Because once you know which category is right for you, then you can narrow it down to the fun part — the theme.
What Are the Disney Wish Class Ships?
The Wish class ships currently are:
- Disney Wish
- Disney Treasure
- Disney Destiny

They share a similar layout and structure — but each ship has its own personality and its own set of stateroom themes.
There is a fourth Wish Class ship currently being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.
Unlike the older Disney ships, where decor was elegant but subtle, the Wish class ships feature clearly defined character-inspired artwork and design details in every stateroom.
That means:
- The artwork is story-specific
- The color palette reflects the film
- The overall feel changes depending on your room
And yes — you can look up exactly which one you’ll get.
How Wish Class Stateroom Themes Work
Here’s the important part:
Disney Cruise Line does not allow you to request a specific theme.
You cannot say:
“I want Moana.”
“I want Encanto.”
“I want Hercules.”
The only way to control your theme is to:
- Choose your exact stateroom number
- Look it up the theme advance
- Book that stateroom number directly
If you book a guaranteed stateroom, Disney assigns the room — and the theme becomes a surprise until DCL allocates you your stateroom. You do not choose your theme.
Disney Wish Stateroom Themes
Disney Wish introduced deck?based character theming across standard and concierge staterooms.

If you are sailing on Disney Wish and want to check your exact stateroom theme — or choose one intentionally — see the full breakdown here:

Disney Treasure Stateroom Themes
Disney Treasure continues the Wish-class layout but with a completely different collection of stories.
Themes vary by deck and stateroom number — not just by category.

You can look up every cabin here:

Disney Destiny Stateroom Themes
Disney Destiny features its own unique lineup of Disney and Pixar stories.
Again, theme is assigned by individual stateroom number — even neighboring cabins can differ.

Why This Matters More Than You Think
For many families, the stateroom becomes part of the magic:
- Kids (and adults)! walking into “their” Disney story
- Choosing between two available staterooms based on favorite characters
And if you’re investing in a Disney cruise, you might as well know exactly what you’re getting.
There are no bad themes — but there are preferences.
