Disney Cruise Line does not have a conventional drinks package, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways to save money on drinks onboard. The beer mug is a great option if you want to cut down your costs.
How Does it Work?
You buy a Disney Cruise Line Beer Mug from one of the bars onboard your Disney ship. The glass holds 21 ounces, whereas the usual pour is 16 ounces.
Each time you buy a beer with your souvenir glass (or token) you will get an extra 5 ounces of beer or cider, for the same price. This means each time you purchase a beer you are getting an additional third of a pint.
This can add up to a considerable saving over the length of your Disney cruise.
What Beer is Available?
The choice does vary from sailing to sailing but usually, these are on board:
- Angry Orchard Cider
- Blue Moon
- Bud Light
- Guinness
- Heineken
- Kona Longboard
- Michelob Ultra
- Miller Light
- Michelob
- Newcastle Brown Ale
- Sam Adams
But Do I Have to Carry the Glass Around With Me?
Fortunately no!
It is made of fairly thick glass and it is quite heavy – as well as the fact that you probably don’t want to be carrying this around with you all the time!
Instead of the glass, you can ask your bartender for a token. Then each time you buy a beer you can get a clean glass.
There are various designs of mugs available but not all of these will be available on each ship. I particularly like the one I got on one of my sailings on Disney Wish.
It is a nice bonus that not only do you save money on beer and cider, but you get to take the Disney cruise beer mug home with you as a souvenir.
How Much is the Disney Cruise Refillable Beer Mug?
It is $15.25 to purchase either before your cruise or onboard.
Remember that there will be an 18% gratuity automatically added. This is the case with all beverage purchases on board Disney ships.
Then when you order your beer you will pay for the beer, but you will be getting a larger amount for that price. Prices of beer do vary but are usually within the $7 to $9.50 range.
Where Can You Buy the Mug?

We have noticed that it is quite often out of stock there. If it is, or if you just forget to purchase before you board your Disney ship, don’t worry. The beer mug is available to buy from any of the bars onboard.
It is also slightly cheaper to buy the mug after you board the ship because if you order in advance sales tax will be added, as well as the gratuity.
Can You Take Alcohol On Board?
Don’t forget that you can take a limited amount of alcohol onboard.
Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage.
For cruises from Australia and New Zealand guests aged 18 and over also have this allowance.
Other Ways to Save on Beer on a Disney Cruise
Disney Cruise Line also has an offer that when you purchase 6 beers you only pay for 5. You can pre-order from the gifts and services page and it will be waiting in your stateroom. You will pay slightly more if you do this as the sales tax as well as the gratuity will be added.
