The Complete Guide to Food and Drinks at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Sharing is caring!

Just like on Castaway Cay, one of the best things about a day at Lighthouse Point is that you really don’t need to plan much around food — it’s included, it’s easy, and once you know your way around the island, it makes the whole day even better.

I get asked a lot how Lighthouse Point compares to Castaway Cay when it comes to eating on the island, so I wanted to put together a full breakdown of where to go, what to expect, and a few honest thoughts along the way.

A Quick Note on the Flies (Yes, I’m Addressing It)

If you did any research on Lighthouse Point when it first opened, you probably came across a lot of chatter about flies around the food.

I’m not going to pretend that wasn’t a real issue in the early days — it absolutely was, and it was one of the more talked-about parts of the island’s debut.

Here’s the good news: Disney took this seriously, and it’s simply not the problem it once was.

Between adjustments to food service areas and a bit of time for the island’s ecosystem to settle after all that construction, this has been largely resolved.

So don’t let old reviews scare you off — I want you to go in with realistic expectations, not outdated ones.

Getting Your Bearings: The Two Sides of the Island

Lighthouse Point is laid out differently than Castaway Cay, so it’s worth understanding the geography before you go.

lighthousepointmap

When you arrive at Mabrika Cove, you’re on the calmer side of the island.

This is where you’ll find your first food and drink stop of the day before you even reach the main beach areas.

And yes, there is that walk from the ship. It is 0.6 miles and takes around 12 to 15 minutes depending upon your walking speed.

There are golf carts available drive by Cast Members if you have accessibility needs – just go to Guest Services to book this on the way out.

castaway cay or lighthouse point

There are also free strollers and wagons just outside the ship on the dock. They are first come first serve, but there are usually plenty available.

From there, a tram takes you over to the other side of the island which is where the bulk of the island’s dining and beach life happens.

This side splits into the Family Beach area to the south and Serenity Bay (the adults-only section) to the north, with the Goombay Cultural Center and the family water play area sitting in the middle.

Your First Stop: Mangroves & Go (Mabrika Cove)

Before you even get on the tram, there’s Mangroves & Go, where you can grab coffee, cold brew, frozen drinks, and even a Dole Whip to start your day.

It’s a nice, easy way to fuel up before heading over to the beach side of the island — and honestly, the menu here is more extensive than I expected for what’s essentially just a first stop.

Lunch: True-True BBQ, True-True Too BBQ, and Serenity Bay BBQ

Here’s the biggest difference from Castaway Cay that trips people up: on Lighthouse Point, all three lunch buffet locations serve the exact same menu.

Unlike Castaway Cay, where the Serenity Bay BBQ, the new Hangar 98, has slightly different food, here it really just comes down to which one is closest to where you’ve set up for the day.

lighthousepointatlookoutcay

True-True BBQ sits closest to the Family Beach and tram stop, and it’s set up with four separate serving stations rather than one long buffet line, which actually makes it feel a little less chaotic than you might expect.

True-True Too BBQ is just along from there, also on the family side.

Serenity Bay BBQ is the adults-only version, tucked up in the Serenity Bay area to the north.

True-True BBQ Menu

Flavorful Fish

  • Freshly Grilled Bahamian-Style Lime and Ginger-Marinated Snapper
  • Grilled Salmon with Pineapple Salsa

Sides: Pickled Vegetables, Yucca Fries, Grilled Corn and Broccoli, Coleslaw, Grilled Pineapple and Black Bean Salad, Tomato-Shallot Salad

Chicken and Seafood Rice Bowls

  • Pan-Served Bahamian Pigeon Peas & Rice with Marinated Chicken
  • Pan-Served Seafood Jambalaya

Sides: Oven-Baked Plantain, Fried Okra, Coleslaw, Tomato-Shallot Salad

BBQ Ribs and Rotisserie Chicken

  • Carved Rotisserie Chicken and Slow-Cooked BBQ Ribs
  • Plant-Based Island Curry with Tofu, Ginger, Cilantro and Potatoes

Sides: Baked Mac & Cheese, Grilled Corn on the Cob, American Coleslaw, Tomato-Shallot Salad, Grilled Pineapple-Black Bean Salad, French Fries

Beach BBQ Burgers
Fresh from the Grill: Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs, Impossible Burgers™, and Crisp Spicy Chicken Sandwiches

Sides: Texas Potato Salad, Coleslaw, French Fries

The food here has a distinctly more Bahamian feel compared to Castaway Cay.

You’ll find the familiar comfort food — cheeseburgers, hot dogs, a plant-based burger option, and a spicy fried chicken sandwich — but the real standouts are the more island-inspired dishes: Bahamian pigeon peas and rice served with either chicken or seafood, a seafood-forward rice dish similar to a paella, and grilled Bahamian-style snapper with a lime and ginger marinade.

Sides lean into the same island flavors, with options like fried plantains, fried okra, yucca fries, and a pineapple black bean salad that I’d happily eat on its own as a full meal.

There’s also a proper vegetarian section at every BBQ location, with a plant-based island curry, rice and peas, and fried okra.

The Cabana Perk Worth Knowing About

Just like Hangar 98 back on Castaway Cay, cabana guests here get access to made-to-order steak, which isn’t available to the general buffet crowd.

This is only for Mabrika Cove Cabanas. The Serenity Bay cabanas do not have an exlusive location for food.

When I had a Cabana on Serenity Bay I sent to the Serenity Bay BBQ but brought the food back to the cabana to eat.

I’ll be upfront: the food here is a step up from Castaway Cay in terms of variety and creativity, particularly if you enjoy Bahamian flavors rather than classic American BBQ.

Where Lighthouse Point falls a little short is the lack of variety between locations — since every BBQ spot and every bar serves the same thing, there isn’t quite the same “let’s try a different spot today” fun you get hopping between Cookie’s, Cookie’s Too, and Hangar 98.

Is the Food at Lighthouse Point Worth It?

lighthousepointfooddisney

Yes, without hesitation. It’s included, it’s tasty, and the more Bahamian-inspired menu genuinely sets it apart from what you’re used to on Castaway Cay.

Go in expecting a relaxed beach lunch rather than a five-star meal, and you’ll have a wonderful day.
