Disney Lookout Cay Port Adventures Excursions and Activities — The Complete Guide

Here’s something I’ve noticed on every single visit to Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point: hardly anybody books an excursion.

People walk the pier, take the tram, find a lounger, and stay there all day. And honestly, a lot of the time that’s the right decision. The beach and that ridiculous blue water genuinely are the main event here.

But there are 18 bookable activities at Lookout Cay, from $15 up to $799, and most guests never even open the list. Disney has just added three new ones, dropped the price on another, and quietly removed one of the better options.

So here’s every activity with current prices and age limits, plus my honest view on which are worth your money — and why I still think most first-time visitors should skip the lot.

What’s New at Lookout Cay

Disney has made some changes to the activity line-up since the destination opened and one of them properly matters if you’re travelling with young children.

A Conservationist for a Day – Family Tour

$59 adults · $59 ages 3–9 · Free under 3

Almost every activity at Lookout Cay charges a lower child rate, which sounds generous until you realise the discount is usually tiny. This one charges exactly the same $59 for adults and children, and takes under-threes free.

More importantly, it’s aimed squarely at families as a group activity rather than being an adult experience that tolerates children. Given how thin the options have been here for younger kids, that’s a real step forward.

Private Historical and Cultural Tour – SUV

$799 · All ages · 4 hours

A private vehicle and guide for four hours, with an itinerary you design yourself.

This is now the most expensive thing at Lookout Cay by a considerable distance, and it’s a completely different proposition from everything else. You’re not joining a group — this is a private tour experience.

My take: $799 is an enormous amount of money for a port day. But split between six people it’s $133 each, which is less than the ATV costs per person, and you’d be seeing far more of Eleuthera. For a multi-generational group who want to explore properly and at their own pace, this genuinely makes sense. For a couple, absolutely not.

The four-hour duration also means you’re writing off a lot of beach time, so be clear about what you actually want from the day.

Sea Escape Eleuthera Fishing Tradition

$254 adults · $229 ages 8–9 · 2–2.5 hours

A fishing experience described as suitable for both experienced anglers and complete beginners.

My take: there are now two fishing options here, and this is the pricier one at $254 versus $199 for the Fishing By Kayak Adventure. The difference is that this is a boat trip rather than a pedal kayak, so it’s less physical and more accessible. If fishing is your thing, the boat is the more relaxed choice. If you’d rather be active, the kayak is $55 cheaper.

I’ll be honest, at $254 a head this is a very specific interest and quite a lot of money.

Snorkel Rental has come down to $34

Down from $38. Not a huge saving, but it’s genuinely unusual to see a Disney price drop, so worth noting.

Bahama Bank Escape has gone

This is the one I’m disappointed about.

Bahama Bank Escape was a catamaran sail out to Bahama Bank, $114 for adults and $84 for children aged 8–9. It was one of very few activities that actually took you out onto open water and showed you something, rather than just keeping you busy near the island.

With it gone, the water-based options are noticeably thinner. There’s no longer any straightforward boat trip that isn’t a fishing expedition.

Should You Book Anything at All?

I will be honest, because this is the question that actually matters.

Lookout Cay still has far fewer activities than Castaway Cay. That’s simply true. Castaway Cay has decades of development behind it, a purpose-built snorkelling lagoon full of hidden Disney surprises, Pelican Plunge, and extensive watercraft rentals. Lookout Cay has 18 activities and several are variations on the same idea.

But the beach here is better. The sand is softer and far less stony than Castaway Cay, and the water is a colour I still don’t quite believe every time I see it. If you get one day at Lookout Cay, spending it on that beach is not a wasted day.

And the logistics eat your time. The pier walk is 0.6 miles, takes 10–15 minutes, and has no shade whatsoever. Then a 10-minute tram. You’re looking at 25–30 minutes ship to beach, and close to an hour if you decide to pop back mid-day. Any excursion has to be planned around that.

Book something if you:

• Have been to Lookout Cay before and already know the beach
• Genuinely want to see Eleuthera rather than just Disney’s slice of it
• Have older children or teenagers who won’t settle on a lounger
• Have younger children and want to try the new Conservationist tour
• Want to snorkel properly — this is open ocean, not a lagoon
• Are travelling as adults and fancy something active

Skip them if you:

• Are visiting for the first time
• Just want a beach day, which is what this island does best
• Are also visiting Castaway Cay on the same itinerary

The Age Problem — Improving, But Still Real

This is the most useful thing on this page, so it’s going high up.

Most activities at Lookout Cay are still closed to young children — but the picture has genuinely improved with the new additions.

• South Eleuthera Eco and Cultural Tour — $154
• Private Historical and Cultural Tour (SUV) — $799

Six options rather than four, and crucially one of them is a proper family activity at a sensible price.

A reader called MaryJo commented on my original activities post saying “I wish there were more activities for 4 yr olds.” She was completely right at the time. It’s still not brilliant, but it’s better than it was.

The upper age limits catch people out too

Nobody mentions these, and they matter if you’re travelling with grandparents:

• Ebike, Sand, Snorkel and History Tour — ages 16 to 75
• Bike and Kayak — ages 10 to 80
• Nature Walk and Kayak — ages 10 to 80

Check before you book rather than finding out at the meeting point.

And remember the best things for little ones are free anyway. Rush Out Gush Out is the water play area, Sebastian’s Cove is the kids’ club for ages 3–10, and the Play-Play Pavilion runs character games.

On-Island Rentals — The Cheap and Easy Wins

These are what I’d point most people towards. Inexpensive, no schedule to work around, and you can fit them into a beach day rather than building the day around them.

Bicycle Rental — $15

Ages 3 and up. Same price for adults and children.

But here is the thing – even though bike rentals have been advertised by DCL on their website for as long as Lighthouse Point has been open, I am still not sure they are actually offered. When I was there last, which was February 2026 I saw some bikes but didn’t see anyone on one. I am not even sure where you could go with a bike that would be fun.

Snorkel Rental — $34

Ages 10 and up. Down from $38.

Understand what you’re getting. Unlike Castaway Cay’s purpose-built lagoon with its sunken treasures and Disney surprises, snorkelling at Lookout Cay is open ocean. No breakwater, no shelter.

My take: the marine life is lovely but conditions vary hugely day to day. If it’s choppy — and it can be, because it’s completely exposed — it won’t be much fun. I’d look at the sea before committing.

Worth knowing: bring your own mask and snorkel if you own them. Even at the reduced $34, a family of four is spending $136 renting kit they could buy for less.

Water Activities

Banana Boat — $59 / $49 (ages 8–9)

Ages 8 and up. The classic inflatable-behind-a-speedboat. Short, fun, priced accordingly. Teenagers love it.

Bike and Kayak — $99 · Nature Walk and Kayak — $84

Both ages 10 to 80. Same kayaking element — the only difference is whether you cycle or walk to the launch point.

My take: the $15 gap is literally just the bike. If you’re unsure how much cycling you fancy in Bahamian heat, take the walking version and pocket the difference. But note my comments about the bike above – it may not even be available.

Nature Walk and Paddleboard — $84

Ages 16 and up. Note that limit — this isn’t a family option.

Tropical Reef Safari Snorkel — $114 / $84 (ages 5–9)

Ages 5 and up, suitable for all experience levels.

My take: at age 5 this is one of the few guided activities open to younger children. If your family wants to snorkel together with a little one, this beats renting gear and going it alone in open water.

With Bahama Bank Escape gone, this is now the only guided in-water experience that isn’t fishing.

Fishing By Kayak Adventure — $199 / $189 (ages 8–9)

Ages 8 and up. Pedal kayak and bottom fishing off the Eleuthera coast.

Sea Escape Eleuthera Fishing Tradition — $254 / $229 (ages 8–9)

Ages 8 and up. A 2 to 2.5 hour fishing experience for both experienced anglers and beginners.

My take on both fishing options: you now have a choice between active and relaxed. The kayak at $199 is the cheaper and more physical option. Sea Escape at $254 is the boat-based, easier alternative.

Note that on both, the child price is barely lower than the adult price — $10 and $25 respectively. These are expensive family outings.

Guided Nature and Cultural Experiences

A Conservationist for a Day – Family Tour — $59 / $59 (3–9) / free (0–2)

All ages. Flat pricing for adults and children.

My take: this is the best new addition and the one I’d recommend most readily to families. The flat $59 rate and free under-threes make it genuinely accessible, and it’s designed as a family experience rather than an adult one that permits children.

Culture, Conservation and Coral Nursery Walk — $59 / $49 (ages 5–9)

Ages 5 and up. Conservation projects, cultural elements, coral nursery discussion.

My take: I’ve been fairly critical of how the cultural side of Lookout Cay turned out. The Goombay Cultural Center is smaller and less impressive than I expected, and the Junkanoo workshop genuinely underwhelmed me. A lot was promised about celebrating Bahamian heritage and I don’t think it’s been delivered.

That said, this walk is one of the better attempts, and the coral nursery element is genuinely interesting. At $59 it’s fair.

Worth noting: with the new Conservationist tour now available at the same $59 price, these two overlap considerably. If you have children under 10, the Conservationist tour looks like better value.

Ebike, Sand, Snorkel and History Tour — $139

Ages 16 to 75. Electric bikes, island history, snorkelling.

My take: decent value in that you’re getting three things, and the ebikes take the effort out of the heat. But that 16+ age limit rules out most families.

Off-Island Tours — Seeing the Real Eleuthera

This is where Lookout Cay has a genuine advantage over Castaway Cay, and I don’t think enough people realise it.

Castaway Cay is a leased island — there’s nothing beyond Disney’s version of it.

Lookout Cay sits on the southern tip of Eleuthera, a real, inhabited island with actual history and communities. You can step outside the Disney bubble for a few hours.

South Eleuthera Eco and Historical Tour — $124 / $84 (3–9) / free (0–2)

Off the beaten path through South Eleuthera for cultural history and landscape.

South Eleuthera Eco and Cultural Tour — $154 / $124 (3–9) / free (0–2)

Longer version taking in Rock Sound, with more cultural emphasis.

My take on both: infants go free on either, which makes them a realistic option for anyone travelling with a baby.

Of the two, I’d take the Historical Tour at $124. The extra $30 buys a longer itinerary, but given how underwhelming I’ve found Disney’s cultural offerings elsewhere on this island, I’d save the money.

Private Historical and Cultural Tour – SUV — $799 per vehicle

All ages. Four hours. Private vehicle and guide, itinerary of your choosing.

My take: the maths only works for a group. Split six ways it’s $133 each, which is genuinely competitive with the group tours while giving you complete control. Split two ways it’s $400 each, which is absurd.

If you’re travelling multi-generationally and want to see Eleuthera properly without being herded, this is the option. Everyone else should take the $124 group tour.

Historical Nature and Awesome Buggy Tour — $239 (2-person) / $399 (4-person)

Ages 12 and up. Off-road buggies through scenic routes and trails.

These are priced per buggy, not per person — which changes the maths completely:

• 4-person buggy at $399 = $99.75 each
• 2-person buggy at $239 = $119.50 each

My take: a family of four with children over 12 gets genuinely reasonable value from the 4-person buggy. For two people, $239 is harder to justify.

Adventure by ATV — $289 per 2-person ATV

Ages 18 and up. South Eleuthera by ATV, described as a chance to enjoy the beach and rolling hills on a four-wheeler. Works out at $144.50 each.

My take: adults only, and expensive per head. This is for people who specifically want to ride an ATV, not for people looking for a good day out.

Free Things to Do at Lookout Cay

Before spending anything, know what’s already included. Some of the best experiences here cost nothing.

The Nature Trail — a 15-minute walk to the historic lighthouse with QR-coded signs about local flora and fauna. Genuinely worth doing.

Rush Out Gush Out — water play area for under-12s with small slides and interactive features. Children must be toilet trained, but there’s a smaller area to the right for those who aren’t. Be warned it’s smaller than it should be and gets crowded.

Sebastian’s Cove — kids’ club for ages 3 to 10, with its own dining area.

Play-Play Pavilion — character-led games including Goofy’s Limbo and Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Water Brigade.

RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration — parade-style show with local performers and Disney characters. One of the better cultural offerings, and free.

Character meets — Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Chip ‘n’ Dale in exclusive island outfits by Bahamian designer Theodore Elyett. Head to True-True BBQ in the morning for shortest lines.

The beach, which is the actual reason to come.

How and When to Book

Booking opens by Castaway Club status. Higher status, earlier window. Several of these have limited capacity — and the new Conservationist tour is likely to be popular with families, so that head start matters.

Book online in advance. The popular ones sell out and there’s no advantage to waiting.

Check the Navigator app on the day for meeting points. Some depart from Mabrika Cove near the pier, others from the Eastern Side — and given how spread out this island is, that difference matters a lot.

The timing mistake people make

If your excursion meets at Mabrika Cove, that’s a 10–15 minute walk from the ship — be off early.

If it meets on the Eastern Side, add another 10 minutes for the tram.

Lookout Cay vs Castaway Cay Excursions

If your itinerary includes both — and plenty now do, since they’re only 132 miles apart — here’s how I’d split your budget.

My honest recommendation: if you’re visiting both on one cruise, spend your excursion money at Castaway Cay and treat Lookout Cay as your beach day. Castaway Cay simply has more, and does it better.

The one exception is if you specifically want to see Eleuthera itself. Castaway Cay can never give you that, and it’s the strongest reason to spend money here.

Practical Tips

Take a UV umbrella. There is no shade on the pier walk at all. I take a compact one every time and it makes an enormous difference — especially if you’re heading straight to an excursion afterwards. I have this one.

Pick up towels when you get off the tram. I forgot on my first visit and spent ages hunting for some near the adult beach.

Bring a refillable water bottle. Refill stations are dotted across the island.

Don’t book anything for the very start of the day if you also want a good lounger spot. You can’t really do both.

Weigh up what you’re giving up. Every excursion costs you beach time, and the beach is the best thing here. Make sure the trade is worth it.

Are excursions included in my cruise fare?
No. Everything on this page costs extra. Food, drinks, the beach, water play area, kids’ club, character meets and the Nature Trail are all included.

Do I need to book in advance?
Strongly recommended. Windows open by Castaway Club status and the popular activities sell out.

What is there to do at Lookout Cay with a toddler?
Six things now: A Conservationist for a Day, Bicycle Rental, Pirates of Eleuthera, both South Eleuthera tours, and the private SUV tour. The Conservationist tour is the best value of those. Beyond that you’re on the free options — Rush Out Gush Out, Sebastian’s Cove and the beach.

What’s the cheapest activity at Lookout Cay?
Bicycle Rental at $15, available from age 3. But see note about whether or not this is actually available.

What’s the most expensive?
The Private Historical and Cultural Tour at $799 for a private SUV and guide for four hours.

Is the snorkelling good?
Beautiful, but open ocean rather than a sheltered lagoon. Conditions vary a lot. For guaranteed calm snorkelling, Castaway Cay wins.

Is there a boat trip at Lookout Cay?
Only the two fishing experiences now. The Bahama Bank Escape catamaran sail has been removed from the line-up.

How much is a cabana at Lookout Cay?
Around $620 for Serenity Bay, $1,030 for Family Beach, $1,375 for a Grand Cabana. I reviewed a Serenity Bay cabana and concluded it wasn’t worth it for two adults — honest review here.

Can I do an excursion and still have a beach day?
With the shorter on-island options, yes — bike rental, snorkel rental, banana boat and the kayak trips all leave plenty of beach time. Off-island tours, and especially the four-hour private tour, will take most of your day.

How long from ship to excursion meeting point?
10–15 minutes to walk the pier, plus 10 minutes on the tram for the Eastern Side. Budget 25–30 minutes, or close to an hour for a round trip back to the ship.

Is there help for guests with mobility issues?
Golf cart assistance is available for the pier — arrange it at Guest Services. Free strollers and wagons are on the dock. Individual excursions have their own requirements.

Is there a water slide like Pelican Plunge?
No. Rush Out Gush Out has small slides for under-12s, but nothing comparable.

Is it worth booking anything at all?
For most first-time visitors, honestly no. The beach is the main event and it’s included. Excursions make far more sense on a repeat visit, or if you specifically want to see Eleuthera — or if you have young children and want to try the new Conservationist tour.
