Have you ever wondered if Disney Cruise prices increase year over year? Most people consider that they have increased considerably over the years, but is this really the case?
I have looked at opening day pricing for a number of years for the Disney Alaskan Cruises.
Here I am going to compare opening day prices. What do I mean by this?
Every time Disney Cruise Line releases new itineraries they give priority to Castaway Club members (those who have sailed with DCL before).
They always follow this pattern with the order that guests can book (although the actual days of the week can change).
- Monday – Platinum Castaway Club Members and Disney’s Golden Oaks residents
- Tuesday – Gold Castaway Club Members
- Wednesday – Silver Castaway Club members, Adventures by Disney Insiders, and DVC members who have not previously sailed with DCL.
- Any number of days after from one day to the next week – General Public
For many years the perception has been that the earlier you book, the lower the price will be. Is this so?
You can see our comparisons in these articles:
However, here we are looking at opening day prices. So that means the first day that they were released to Platinum Castaway Club members. These prices for 2023 were published on 27 April 2023.

May Alaskan Disney Cruise Prices
If we look at the prices for a Disney Alaskan Cruise in May then for all 3 sailings, an Inside Stateroom and an Outside Stateroom all have an opening day price that is lower for 2023 than it was in 2021 or 2022.
The Balcony and Concierge stateroom prices for a May Alaskan Cruise have increased for two sailings but stayed pretty much the same for the sailing in the third week of May.
Disney Cruise Alaska Sailings in June
The next 2 cruises aren’t comparable between 2021 and 2022. The reason for this is that in 2021 there was a 9-night sailing in this gap.
All sailings longer than 7 nights were subsequently canceled in 2021.
|Stateroom||6/26/23||6/27/22||No Comparable Sailing|
The opening day pricing in June has actually fallen every year and is lower in 2023 than it was in 2021. Interestingly the one exception is to sail Concierge. These Concierge staterooms always sell out pretty quickly so I am sure that Disney knows that these are going to sell at a higher price.
Disney Cruise Alaska Sailings in July
|Stateroom||7/3/23||7/4/22||No Comparable Sailing|
It is only really once we get to the end of July 2022 that you see the 2022 opening day prices being higher than 2021. However, the 2023 opening day prices are lower than in previous years, with the exception of Concierge Staterooms
It is here we see the Disney Alaska Cruise Price increase for 2022 over 2021.
The 7/24/23 cruise is for 9 nights so a price comparison is not appropriate.
For the cruises to Alaska in August and September, the prices for all categories have either fallen or remained pretty much the same.
What is Included in the Cost of a Disney Cruise?
What exactly is included in the cost of a Disney Cruise to Alaska?
Disney Cruise Lines is very transparent with its cost structure.
Unlike some other cruise lines, you really can sail on a Disney Cruise and not spend very much on board. It really is up to you.
What is included in your basic fare?
- Your chosen accommodation.
- All food at the buffet, snack locations, and rotational dining restaurants
- Soda, tea, and coffee in restaurants and on the self-serve locations on the pool deck.
- Entertainment including Broadway-quality shows.
- Character interactions
Of course, there are also endless opportunities to spend on items that are not included. Good luck trying to resist the merchandise, particularly the Disney Cruise Line exclusive ranges!
The main cost not included in the basic price is gratuities. I know that many people get confused about this so here is a guide to Tipping on a Disney Cruise – What You Need to Know.
