With the maiden voyage set for December 21, 2024, the Disney Treasure will be the second of the Triton Class ships and a sister ship to Disney Wish.

Disney Cruise Line has launched a new page that will give an insight into the building progress of this latest Disney ship.

Construction began at Meyer Werft shipbuilders in Germany – they also built Disney Wish.

Breaking News. Here is the latest including details of Disney Treasure restaurants, bars, adult spaces, shows, sailings, and prices.

DISNEY TREASURE CRUISE ITINERARIES AND COSTS

PROGRESSION OF DISNEY TREASURE

Here we will be updating all the progress reports regarding the construction of Disney Treasure.

Disney Treasure Steel Cutting

This ceremony, which celebrates the tradition of shipbuilding, signaled the start of the construction of the Disney Treasure.

On January 19, 2023, the beginning of the construction process was celebrated with a steel-cutting ceremony.

A piece of steel was cut into the shape of a Disney Cruise ship.

The process of shipbuilding has changed enormously over the years, but there was often a ceremony to mark the start of the process. This steel-cutting ceremony for Disney Wish was honoring that tradition.

This marked a milestone for DCL and Meyer Werft as it was the formal start of the actual construction of Disney Treasure.

The Disney Treasure Funnel Arrives

On February 9, 2023, the second funnel arrived from Poland.

It is amazing to see the ship taking shape. The funnel will be integrated into the ship and as a final stage will be painted the highly distinctive red color of all the other ships in the fleet.

One of the most distinctive features of all the Disney ship designs is that they have two funnels – even though only one of them is needed for engineering reasons.

In all the Disney ships the second funnel has a non-mechanical function but is used as space for part of the interior of the ship. On Disney Wonder and Magic, this is where you will find the teen club Vibe.

However, on the Triton Class ships this space is used to house one of the most spectacularly luxurious suites to be found on any Disney ship.

The Tower Suite on the Disney Wish is a 1,966-square-foot penthouse that offers the largest concierge suite on any DCL ship.

The Disney Treasure will follow Disney Wish and have a suite inside one of the funnels. The Tomorrow Tower Suite will be themed around Disney World’s Epcot park.

Disney Treasure Floating Engine Room Unit

Things are moving along swiftly.

On March 22, 2024, the Floating Engine Room Unit, or FERU, arrives at Meyer Werft.

This was built in Denmark and the pictures below show it arriving in Papenburg, Germany at the Meyer Werft shipyard.

What is the FERU? It is a crucial part of Disney Treasure which will serve as the main source of power, housing the main motors and liquified natural gas tanks.

The FERU is also where all the auxiliary machinery needed for cooling water, fuel, air supply, and other essential support systems will be kept.

The Keel Laying Ceremony

It doesn’t seem too long since the Keel Laying Ceremony for Disney Wish – now it is the turn of the Treasure.

A Keel Laying Ceremony is an old maritime tradition where a newly minted coin is placed under the keel of the ship.

This is said to bring good luck to the ship and her crew.

The coin itself is a carved portrait of Captain Minnie Mouse. She is wearing her new adventure outfit, which was designed specifically for Disney Treasure. sporting a fashionable new adventure outfit designed for the new ship.

The timing of this event may give some clue as to when we might see the first sailing of Disney Treasure.

Nothing has been announced yet about when the maiden voyage will be, or what itineraries Disney Treasure will sail.

However, the Disney Wish Keely Laying Ceremony was on April 8, 2021.

For Disney Treasure, the ceremony was held on March 30, 2023.

If we can assume that the Disney Treasure will follow roughly the same construction and launch schedule at Disney Wish, then we can expect that she will sail her maiden voyage in June or July 2024.

This also coincides with the debut of Lighthouse Point, Disney’s new private island destination.

So everything looks to be pointing towards a June or July 2024 launch for Disney Treasure.

The Bow Design is Revealed

One of the first things you will notice about any of the Disney ships is that they each have their own, distinct design on the bow of the ship.

Whilst the style of the design is instantly recognizable and consistent for all the ships, the individual design of the artwork on the bow of each Disney ship is different.

Again, Voyager Minnie Mouse is featured with her newly designed adventurer outfit. This design was first released to the public on April 15, 2013.

The Bow Arrives

Shortly afterward, on April 18, 2023, we can see the bow arriving at the shipyard.

You can see in the picture that there is a huge tarp on the side of the ship. This is where the outline of the bow design has already been sketched out.

The Bow is Connected to the Treasure

Things really look like they are taking shape now with the connection of the bow to the rest of the ship.

This incredibly delicate operation took place on May 12, 2023.

The bow block was held in position with the help of a high-precision laser scanner until it was fully welded to the foreship.

You can now see that very distinctive Disney Cruise Line design.

Below you can see an artist’s impression of what the ship’s bow and bridge will look like when she is launched.

A Look at the Walt Disney Theater on Disney Treasure

Here we get our first look at the Walt Disney Theatre. This is how it looked on May 26, 2023.

The entertainment on a Disney ship is a huge part of the appeal – with Broadway-quality shows on each sailing.

Which shows will they have on Disney Treasure?

No details have been released yet, but is one clue the design of the Grand Hall on the Treasure? We already know that this will be themed around the land of Agrabah, the home of Princess Jasmine and Aladdin.

Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish already have Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular as a show on board. It seems likely that the Treasure will also feature this very popular show.

However, it is also very likely that the launch of Disney Treasure will also mean the start of a whole new show for the Walt Disney Theatre. It is interesting to speculate about what this may be.

Perhaps something like the fabulous Golden Mickeys: A Timeless Tribute, but with more of the updated movies included?

Or something more along the lines of Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic, which follows the story of Anne-Marie and her journey from self-doubt to belief in the power of dreams.

It would be wonderful if there was another new show based on a Disney movie. We already have Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, and Cinderella. The Lion King is already a phenomenally successful stage show – perhaps this will be adapted for Disney Treasure?

We will probably have some updated news of this fairly soon as the search for a cast will begin well ahead of time.

The Bridge Block

On June 26, 2023, the bridge block was installed.

The Treasure is taking shape!

You really can see how the structure is coming together.

For instance on the very top of the ship, Deck 13, the Concierge Pool area can be seen. At the side of this are the Verandahs for the Royal Suites.

On top of the bridge, you can see the Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms.

These are usual designs as they were the first Disney Concierge Staterooms that were offered without a Verandah. They have proved to be very popular.

Bow Artwork

We had to wait quite a while for this update which shows the beautiful artwork on the bow of Disney Treasure. This was revealed on February 12, 2024.

The bow features Captain Minnie Mouse in her signature adventure-themed outfit. Disney Treasure is beginning to take shape!

Disney Cruise Line 2024

The year 2024 is going to be huge for Disney Cruise Line.

Not only will the Treasue be launched and Lighthouse Point becomes a second private island resort stop, but the Disney Adventure will come closer to reality, ready to sail sometime out of Singapore in 2025.

Very little is known about the ship which Disney Cruise Line purchased when she was 75% completed, except she will be sailing from Singapore.

We do know that she will be the largest ship in the DCL fleet by far.

This artist’s impression shows that she will be transformed into very much a Disney ship – just a lot larger! With the distinctive colors and the classic bow design, she will look very much like her sisters in the fleet.

Details are very limited but I researched what I could find out, and here is a guide for you that discusses what the new Disney ship might be like:
