Just days after the announcement that Disney Cruise Line has cancelled sailings up to the end of March 2021 we have noticed that all April and a number of May sailing have been removed from the booking system.
This doesn’t mean that these sailings have been canceled. At this stage, it just means that these cruises are not able to be booked.
If you are booked on these cruises please do not contact Disney. They have not canceled your sailing. You will be notified by Disney if and when this happens.
With the situation changing rapidly we will keep you updated on this situtation.
In the meantime, what does it mean that these cruises are no longer on the booking system?
When Will Disney Cruise Lines Sail Again?
Of course we all with that we had the answer to that question. We know that right now all Disney Cruises up to March 2022 have been cancelled.
It is highly likely that each ship will resume sailing at a different time. Each ship has to be passed by the CDC as fit to resume sailing.
The best bet is that the Disney Dream would be the first to start sailing. The Dream has 3 and 4 night itineraries. Whilst there is huge pent up demand for Disney Cruises, and there would be no problem finding guests wanting to sail, it is likely that the shorter cruises will be more appealing to begin with.
The Disney Fantasy would probably follow the Disney Dream.
The Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic have very different considerations to the Dream Class ships. The Disney Magic is in Europe and the Disney Wonder would have to sail to the West Coast from Port Canaveral to resume her scheduled sailings. I talk about what might happen with those ships in the relevant sections below.

The next bookable cruise on the Disney Magic is:
7-Night Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona 5/22/21
Realistically I think that this difficult though it is, we have to accept that this May sailing of the Disney Magic is the first itinerary which she is likely to sail in 2021.
The Disney Magic is presently in Dover, England most of the time. It seems highly unlikely that Disney will sail the Magic back to Miami for any April and May sailings.

It is not surprising that the Disney Wonder cruises are disappearing from the booking system for April and May 2021. It seems highly unlikely that she will be sailing to the West Coast any time soon.
The Disney Wonder is currently in Port Canaveral with the Dream and Fantasy. In order to sail to San Diego she would have to sail through the Panama Canal. This is an expensive and time consuming sailing, usually taking around 14 days.
The fees to sail through the Panama Canal are not inconsiderable – even when Disney cruise line has a fully booked fleet, it is difficult to see how the Panama Canal sailing is profitable.
This coupled with the fact that California is much less likely to be a “sailing friendly” state than Florida. Disneyland has been closed since March 2020 with no real hope of reopening in sight.
Do you have any of these cruises booked? Do you think Disney Cruise Line will sail in April and May 2022?
