Disney Cruise Chocolate and Liquor Tasting: Is It Worth Booking?

Sharing is caring!

If you’re looking for one of the most indulgent, adults only experiences on a Disney Cruise, the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting absolutely deserves a spot on your must do list.

Disney Cruise Line offers a wide range of Beverage Tasting Seminars, but this one feels a little different. It’s rich, it’s decadent, and it feels like a proper treat — the kind of experience you book “just for you.”

And yes… it’s also one of the hardest tastings to book.

On my Disney Fantasy transatlantic cruise I made a booking for this tasting experience. I hadn’t done this one for some time, but enjoyed it when I had done this a few years ago.

So I had high hopes for this.

Let’s talk about why the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting is so popular, what makes it special, how much it costs, and how it compares to the other Disney Cruise tastings you might be considering.

What Is the Disney Cruise Chocolate and Liquor Tasting?

The Chocolate & Liquor Tasting is an adults only (21+) beverage seminar offered onboard Disney Cruise Line ships.

During the experience, you’re guided through a curated selection of premium chocolate, each paired with a complementary liquor.

This isn’t just about eating chocolate and sipping alcohol — it’s about learning why certain flavors work together, how sweetness and bitterness balance each other, and how the spirit changes the way the chocolate tastes (and vice versa).

Like all Disney Cruise beverage seminars, it’s:

  • Hosted by a knowledgeable bartender
  • Held in a small-group setting
  • Relaxed, informative, and genuinely enjoyable

Why the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting Is So Good

I’ll be honest — Disney Cruise Line does tastings very well, but this one feels especially indulgent.

I also compared it with the Prima Notte tasting which I went to on the same cruise. The Chocolate and Liquor Tasting was so much better than that experience – you can see my review and why I was very disappointed in that experience. I know Prima Notte is classed as a dining experience and not a tasting, but the price is very similar and that is also about pairing alcohol with food.

This was what was laid out on the table when we arrived in the Ooh La La bar on Disney Fantasy. This is one of my favorite bars on the ship – a great place to enjoy some excellent wine or champagne and listen to live piano music in the evening.

I was excited to see not only the individual chocolates but also the liquid chocolate!

I really wish that I had taken a note of the make of chocolate that was served.

I admit to being a total chocolate snob. Being originally from Britain and being used to European chocolate, I am picky about my chocolate choices!

And this was genuinely some of the best chocolate I have ever had.

And the liquors?

Thoughtfully selected to enhance the experience rather than overpower it.

What really made this tasting stand out is how interactive and approachable it feels. Well, and the chocolate – do I keep mentioning the chocolate?

The bartender explained each pairing clearly, encouraged questions, and helped us understand flavors without ever making it feel intimidating or overly “fancy.”

The Atmosphere: Small, Relaxed, and Very Disney

One of the biggest reasons I love Disney Cruise tastings — and why they stand out compared to other cruise lines — is the size of the group.

Unlike tastings I’ve experienced elsewhere that were held in crowded dining rooms with dozens of guests (yes that’s you Princess Cruise Lines), Disney keeps these sessions intimate and calm. Well, mostly, apart from the one exception of the disappointing Prima Notte experience.

You’re seated comfortably, there’s time to chat, and we didn’t feel rushed.

That same small group magic is something I talk about in my
Disney Cruise Mixology Class – Why You Need to Try It
and it absolutely applies here as well.

Why It’s So Hard to Book

Let’s be clear: this tasting sells out.

Like the Mixology Class, the Chocolate & Liquor Tasting is one of the most popular beverage seminars Disney offers.

Availability is limited, and demand is high.

Booking depends on your Castaway Club status, with booking windows opening between 75 and 130 days before sailing.

You can see more about that in this guide – When and How to Book Disney Cruise Activities

My best advice?

  • Book the moment your window opens
  • If it’s sold out, keep checking
  • Once onboard, check the Disney Cruise Navigator app regularly — cancellations do happen. You can also go to Guest Services when you board to see if there are any openings.

I’ve personally booked tastings after embarkation just by being persistent.

How Much Does the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting Cost?

Pricing has increased in recent years, but the current cost of the
Disney Cruise Chocolate & Liquor Tasting is $60 per person.

What Other Disney Cruise Tastings Can You Book?

Disney Cruise Line offers an impressive range of beverage seminars.

Some of the most popular include:

  • Mixology Class ($45)
  • Martini Tasting ($50)
  • Champagne Tasting ($70)
  • Whiskey or Bourbon Tasting ($50)
  • Rum Tasting ($50)
  • Mojito & Caipirinha Tasting ($50)
  • Stem to Stern Wine Tasting ($50)
  • Tequila & Margarita Tasting ($45)

Each tasting has a different vibe. Champagne is elegant (and expensive), Mixology is lively and fun – I always book this if I can.

The Chocolate & Liquor Tasting sits firmly in the indulgent treat category — slower paced, rich, and perfect if you want something that feels like dessert with benefits.

Who This Tasting Is Perfect For

This experience is ideal if you:

  • Love chocolate (obviously)
  • Enjoy dessert style experiences
  • Want something relaxed and indulgent
  • Prefer smaller, quieter activities
  • Are cruising as a couple or with friends

If you’re not a fan of chocolate or prefer lighter, cocktail focused tastings, something like the Mixology Class might be a better fit.

Should You Book the Chocolate and Liquor Tasting?

If you see availability for the Disney Cruise Chocolate and Liquor Tasting, my advice is simple:

Book it.

It’s one of those experiences that feels genuinely special — not rushed, not gimmicky, and not something you’ll easily replicate at home.

The quality and atmosphere make it feel like a worthwhile splurge.

Disney cruises are all about creating memorable moments, and this tasting fits that philosophy perfectly.

Just don’t wait too long — because like most of Disney’s best beverage seminars, it won’t stay available for long.
