Epcot World Showcase offers a unique opportunity to explore lots of different countries and cultures. The eleven very different countries are all located around the World Showcase Lagoon.
Here is a list of Countries in Epcot and a guide to what you can expect to find in each Pavilion.
This part of Epcot, with the exception of the Frozen ride, always opens at 11 am in the morning. This is 2 or 3 hours after the Future World part of Epcot opens.
Come prepared with good walking shoes as the route around the Lagoon is 1.3 miles. When you have walked around the Lagoon and around the countries, you are probably going to be pretty tired. Pace yourself, take time to enjoy and explore each country.
What are the Countries in Epcot?
There are 11 countries in Epcot World Showcase. Here is a list of countries in Epcot in the order that they are around the World Showcase Lagoon if you go anti-clockwise.
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- France
- Morrocco
- Japan
- United States
- Italy
- Germany
- China
- Norway
- Mexico
Epcot Canada
If you are walking in from Future World, the first country you will come to, if you turn right, is Canada.
This beautiful representation of Canada has one of the most popular restaurants in the whole of Disney World. Le Cellier Steakhouse is one of the most difficult to snag reservations of any Disney World restaurant.
It is also home to an excellent attraction – O’ Canada. You have to make time to watch this classic Circle-Vision 3D presentation. You stand up to watch the movie, so it’s best to come in here earlier in the day before you are too tired from walking around the World Showcase Lagoon.
The shops in Canada have some good merchandise but aren’t the most interesting in World Showcase. Perhaps they are literally just a bit too close to home as nothing seems that surprising or unique.
Epcot United Kingdom
Take a stroll along from Canada and soon you will arrive in the United Kingdom. This is one of my favorite Pavilions on the list of Epcot Countries – yes probably because I am British and you can buy fabulous chocolate here!
The stores have everything from Winnie the Pooh merchandise to teapots, t-shirts, and all you could possibly need to make the perfect cup of tea.
The Rose and Crown restaurant is a good representation of a British pub – although with much better weather than the real thing. If you want to try traditional Fish and Chips or Bangers and Mash this is the place for you.
Unfortunately, there is no attraction or ride in the United Kingdom Pavilion. Even the performances in the traditional bandstand are now no longer there. Let’s hope they bring that back.
Epcot France
Walk over the bridge from England and you will be in the beautiful French Pavilion. Immediately you will feel at home in the wonderfully relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere of Epcot France.
The imposing one-tenth size Eiffel Tower sets the scene. Start by watching the dated, but still highly enjoyable, Reflections of France. movie. The movie shows the diverse regions of France. It’s a great place to head if you are beginning to get a little fatigued as it has seats and very beautiful music!
You will probably not be able to resist a French patisserie or maybe even a glass of wine. The Boulangerie Patisserie is a great place to stop for a French cake or pastry.
Obviously you will not go hungry in Epcot France. If you want a fine dining experience head to the Bistro de Paris and if you want something also of very good quality but rather less formal then choose the Chefs de Paris.
It is well worth browsing the shops. They sell great selections of wine, household goods, and perfume. Here you will find the only stand-alone Givenchy store in the US.
Epcot Morocco
Make sure that you get a reservation for Restaurant Marakesh when you visit Epcot World Showcase. This Moroccan restaurant is one of the Best Epcot Restaurants which you might miss as it is located at the back of the Pavilion.
Spice Road Table is also an excellent choice, particularly if you can get a table late in the evening to watch the Epcot Forever Fireworks.
Stroll through the Morocco Pavilion and browse the authentic crafts, jewelry, and ceramics. The quality is high and the prices don’t give you sticker shock.
Epcot Japan
Epcot Japan has some of the best shopping in World Showcase. The huge Mitsukoshi Department Store is very well worth taking some time to explore.
As you would expect, the dining in Epcot Japan is top-notch. If you like traditional teppanyaki dining, Teppan Edo is a lot of fun with great food. If you prefer more traditional sushi, Toyko Dining is a great choice.
Epcot United States
The American Pavilion is one of the largest on the list of Epcot Countries. Most of this space is taken up by the American Adventure attraction. It is one of the most technologically advanced attractions in the whole of Walt Disney World. It tells the story of America using a blend of movie footage and animatronics. It is a must-see in Epcot World Showcase.
The shopping is surprisingly disappointing and so is the dining. There is no full-service restaurant. The Liberty Inn offers quick service dining of burgers and American fast food.
At the front of the Pavillion is the American Gardens Theatre. This is an outdoor theater which stages many live events such as the Eat to the Beat concerts and the Holiday Candlelight Processional.
Epcot Italy
Photo CreditWhen you think of Italy you think about beautiful places and amazing food. Epcot Italy is visually stunning – it combines the architecture of Venice, Rome, and Florence.
Via Napoli is a traditional pizza restaurant with a huge wood-fired pizza oven. Tutto Italiana is a great traditional Italian restaurant. Try and dine alfresco and take the opportunity to people watch!
Shopping in Italy is not to be missed. Check out the beautiful jewelry and the hand made Venetian masks.
Epcot Germany
Photo ByIt is October Fest every single day in Epcot Germany. It is easy to imagine that you are in a traditional medieval German town.
The Biergarten offers traditional German food in an all you can eat buffet. It is a lot of fun, but the food is not the best.
Take the chance to browse the shops in Germany. You will want to spend time looking around the Christmas shop which is full of beautiful ornaments. The crystal ware is beautiful and there are lots of Disney themed glass items too.
Epcot China
Photo CreditThe China Pavillion is one of the most beautiful in World Showcase. It also has one of the best attractions. Reflections of China is a Circle Vision 360 movie showing the diverse culture and history of China. It is well worth a look.
Surprisingly. the dining here is disappointing. Nine Dragons restaurant is pretty average in terms of food and experience.
Photo CreditThe shopping is not to be missed. The China store is huge and has a great diversity of products from furniture to clothes, toys to fine jewelry.
Epcot Norway
The Norway Pavilion was perhaps overlooked by many in the past. Not any more. Well, not since the arrival of Anna, Elsa and friends.
The main attraction here is the Frozen Ever After ride. If you don’t have an Epcot Fast Pass you are in for a long wait, for this very popular attraction!
Photo ByPrincesses play a big part in the Epcot Norway Pavillion. Akershus Restaurant is the place to be if you want to dine with a Princess. One of the most popular character dining experiences is Princess Storybook Dining. You can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is a buffet table, but most of the food is ordered from the menu.
Photo CreditLet’s not forget that the Noway Pavilion does have more than Princesses to offer. Check out the store for amazing knitwear, perfume and a troll or two.
Epcot Mexico
Mexico is the only Epcot Pavilion which is mostly in one structure. A huge Mayan Temple invites you in to explore a nighttime market, a vibrant restaurant, and a very fun ride attraction.
As soon as you step inside the Mexico Pavillion in Epcot you will be captivated. It is just beautiful.
The Grand Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Cabelleros is a fun boat ride through Mexican historical sights with Donald Duck as your companion. Sounds strange? It is slightly but is nonetheless worth a visit.
The food is good at The San Angel Inn, but it is the setting that makes it magical. It is inside the Pavilion at the side of the market place, overlooking the river of the boat ride. A great setting for a romantic meal.
There is also a very popular outside restaurant at the edge of the World Showcase Lagoon – Hacienda de San Angel. The food is good, but one of the main attractions here is the view.
Margaritas anyone? Head to La Cava de Tequila Bar.
The coveted lagoon-side table later in the evening you will get one of the very best views available of the nightly Epcot Forever fireworks show.
Shopping in Mexico is also very good. Here you will find traditional Mexican crafts, pottery, and clothing is of good value.
Which is your favorite Pavilion in the list of Epcot Countries.
