Want to know how to make a Disney Frozen Hot Chocolate Bomb? The Hot Chocolate Bomb phenomena is well and truly with us!
There is nothing quite like a delicious mug of hot chocolate. Why not take the experience up a level by making these hot chocolate bombs inspired by Disney’s Frozen movie. They are a lot of fun to make – and we show you how.
I actually got so inspired that I made two different versions. One used white chocolate and the other used blue candy melts. It is fun to play around with the design and colors, and also what you may have in your store cupboard.
If you haven’t seen hot chocolate bombs before, the idea is that they are chocolate cases, usually in a ball shape, which have hot chocolate inside. You can add other things too – we use marshmallows. Another great idea it to use candy cane to give a wonderful peppermint flavor.
When you pour hot milk onto the hot chocolate bombs they melt and the marshmallows float to the top!

How to Make the Disney Frozen Chocolate Bomb
The first thing you need to do is melt your chocolate. Here we are using the Ghiradelli White Melting Wafers. If you are doing the blue version you should use the Blue Candy Melts.
The easiest way is to melt the chocolate in the microwave. Do this in 30 second bursts and keep checking it. Be careful as the container will get hot.
Also, you do need to keep checking it so that you do not overcook it. You want the chocolate to be fully melted and a nice runny consistency.
Have your silicone mold ready. Pour the melted chocolate into each mold. Swirl the chocolate around in the mold by moving it side to side so that the domes are coated evenly.
Make sure that the chocolate comes right the way up to the side. You will see the one on the top right doesn’t and this just creates a hole when you put the two domes together. So learn from my mistake and don’t do that!
Put the silicone mold in the freezer for at least 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set. You can also put them in the refrigerator, but it will take longer for them to cool.
Once the chocolate is cooled, take them out of the molds. You do have to be careful doing this as the chocolate can break.
When you have the dome chocolate pieces out of the mold it is time to fill them with the hot chocolate mix and other goodies that you want to put with them.
I used marshmallows. Another idea is to use candy cane to give a peppermint flavor to your drink.
Now you have to seal the chocolate dome lid onto your chocolate bomb.
To do this, take a plate and microwave it for about 1 minute. Be really careful when you take it out of the microwave – it will be hot.
It needs to be hot enough to melt the chocolate.
Pick up the empty chocolate dome. Place it, edge down, on the plate. Your aim is to melt the chocolate just enough so that it will stick to the bottom chocolate dome.
If you leave it too long it melts a little too much, so timing is important. Just leave it on the plate for long enough that you can see that the edge is melting.
Here are the blue chocolate bombs with their tops sealed. You can see that there are a few gaps in the edge – you can hide this when you are decorating!
Melt more chocolate in the microwave to drizzle over the bombs I just use a spoon but for a more accurate effect you can use a piping bag.
I also made some chocolate snowflakes with these Winter Snowflake Molds
Decorate with sprinkles – these fit the Disney Frozen theme really well.
Now you are ready to use your hot chocolate bombs!
Warm some milk. Place the chocolate bomb in a mug,. Pour and watch the marshmallows rise to the top!
Enjoy your Disney Frozen Hot Chocolate Bomb!
