There are so many exciting details being released in anticipation of the launch of the Disney Wish.
The latest revelation is that Disney Wish will debut a new interactive experience that is the first of its kind.

Disney Unchartered Adventure is an app-based adventure that will allow guests to be immersed in the storytelling experience of the Disney Wish.
David Feder, who is software product manager for Walt Disney Imagineering explained the new technology in this way:
“With the Disney Wish, we have an incredible opportunity to immerse our guests in the worlds of their favorite stories in surprising, interactive, and completely unique new ways. With Disney Uncharted Adventure, we’re literally putting the power in our guests’ hands to become the heroes of a grand adventure that can only be done on a Disney cruise.”
Disney Cruise LInes is of course known for its innovative technology. Remember the excitement over the virtual portholes when they were introduced on the Disney Dream? And the interactive Midship Detective Agency with the Muppets?
Well, it seems that this new Disney Unchartered Adventure is going to take things to a whole different level.
The Adventure starts before you even leave home. Right now Disney Cruise Line guests can receive a phone call welcome from a Disney character. However, the New Unchartered Adventure is going to go way above and beyond this.
Prior to sailing the app will show guests a special message from Captain Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse. They will explain how to prepare for the journey ahead and tell of how important the night sky has always been in seafaring.
The most important star is of course the ever-shining wishing star that lights the way.
Once onboard Disney Cruise Line guests will use their spyglasses, well OK yes, their phones, to reveal unique views of the stars above.
There really will be magic in the sky when familiar characters from the Disney and Pixar movies appear.
However, guests will need to solve some mysteries along the way. The wishing star suddenly shatters into many pieces.
Captain Minnie will need help to navigate unknown territories in search of the shattered pieces of the wishing star.
The interactive technology will allow guests to explore the lands of Sydney, New Orleans, Motunui, Never Land, and many more.
Disney Unchartered Adventure will take guests around the ship as they will be prompted to find props, artwork, and signs. Things may not always be what they seem!
“We are infusing the Disney Wish with innovative technology, like augmented reality and physical effects, to create a hidden layer of magic that can only be unlocked with Disney Uncharted Adventure,” Feder said. “Guests might admire a beautiful painting today without realizing that, hiding right beneath the surface, there’s a hoard of mischievous Kakamora from the world of Moana just waiting to escape and wreak havoc on the ship. A digital menu board might showcase what’s for lunch in the afternoon, but later it will host a cooking lesson in Tiana’s own kitchen.”
Highlights include:
- teaming up with Moana to navigate their canoes beyond the reef
- assisting Princess Tiana cook up the perfect pot of her father’s favorite gumbo
- summoning Tinker Bell to give the Disney Wish an extra dash of pixie dust; and
- making an epic dive into the East Australian Current (EAC) with Nemo and friends.
When you are close to the conclusion of your adventure you will be lead to a grand finale hosted in one of the ship’s premier entertainment venues (let’s just guess that this is the Walt Disney Theatre).
During this live interactive experience, guests will gather with other players to battle an infamous Disney villain (who’s been pulling the strings all along) and finally restore the wishing star to its rightful place in the sky.
Technology really has come so very far and the Disney Wish is able to exploit this to the absolute maximum and combine it with the magical storytelling of the Imagineers.
We are told that this is most definitely not an “eyes down” experience. We all know that most people spend way too much time on their phones and this is often at the expense of spending time with family and friends. Here the amazing new technology will be used to bring families and groups together.
Each Adventure can be played by one person or up to six people at a time.
There is complete flexibility in how much or how little you want to be involved. Even if you play with the whole family one time, you can play by yourself the next.
You don’t have to complete all the quests unless you want to, and everyone can be involved in the Grand Finale live experience
