Disney Cruise New Orleans 2021

Sharing is caring!

Are you thinking of sailing on a Disney Cruise out of New Orleans 2021? Here you can find everything you need to know about cruising from New Orleans on the Disney Wonder in 2021.

The Disney New Orleans are largely following the pattern of the 2020 sailings. However, there isn’t a 6 night cruise which was offered in 2020. Also, there is no longer a Western Caribbean sailing.

Most of the February Disney Cruises from New Orleans are 7 night sailings.

All of the Disney Cruises from New Orleans are on the fabulous Disney Wonder cruise ship.

Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

The Disney Wonder is particularly suited to sailing from New Orleans as it has a very strong theme with a restaurant and bar dedicated to Princess Tiana from Princess and the Frog.

If you are sailing on the Disney Wonder you will spend at least one night dining in Tiana’s Place . We all know the story of Princess Tiana who works incredibly hard to achieve her dream of owning her own restaurant.

The Disney Wonder brings this restaurant to life as Tiana’s Place. You will be entertained by Princess Tiana and her Craw Fish Crooners. It’s a very immersive experience, with a New Orleans themed menu and fabulous live entertainment.

It’s one of the best Disney cruise dining experiences and of course, you have to try Princess Tiana’s very famous beignets.

There is also a wonderfully themed French Quarter Bar on the Disney Wonder. This is such a great space for all the family to enjoy. The attention to detail is astonishing.

I have spent many months on the Disney Wonder are there is a lot of content on this site with hundreds of pictures and lots of helpful tips. I recommend that you start at the Disney Wonder Tour to get to know the ship!

Disney Cruise New Orleans Port Activities and Excursions

When you are planning a Disney cruise you really should think about the actual itinerary and the port stops that it offers. I would be perfectly happy just to spend all my time on a Disney Cruise ship, but even I want to explore some times!

The New Orleans Disney Cruises have some amazing port stops. Here we pick just a selection of the port adventures available if you are sailing on a Disney Cruise from New Orleans.

Cozumel Port Adventures

Cozumel Coastline

This photo above is of the Disney Fantasy arriving in Cozumel. Yes, the ocean really is that blue.

Cozumel is a very easy port stop. The Disney Wonder docks right in the port where if you don’t want to book a port adventure you can spend an hour or so just looking at the stores. Yes, its a tourist trap in many ways, but you feel safe and you can pick up some reasonably priced souvenirs.

Cozumel is a very popular port stop for many cruise lines, not just Disney. You may be sharing you port time with thousands of cruise guests and as many as 8 ships at a time. However, this is not a place which feels particularly crowded as there are many different things to do.

Cozumel is very much a tourisst destination, so if you don’t speak Spanish you will be absolutely fine. I am fortunate as my partner is a native Spanish speaker, and this does make it easier. Try learning just a few basic phrases and it is much appreciated.

Cozumel is actually an island. And it’s pretty small at 28 miles long and about 10 miles wide. You can rent a car or take a taxi.

Prices for taxis are regulated at a set rate. You can explore the whole island for about $100 so if you don’t want to take a Port Adventure and feel confident going out on your own, this can be a good way to explore.

If you are missing home you can find Subway and MacDonalds, but really please try not to. Cozumel has so much to offer other than a taste of home.

Cozumel is a great place to snorkel. A great Disney port adventure is the Clear Kayak & Beach Snorkel Combo which is $71 for ages 10 and up. This 4.5 hour excursion combines kayaking with snorkeling.

You will kayak through the aquamarine waters of Uvas beach and enjoy an underwater snorkeling tour. This includes 2 complimentary drinks and a fresh fruit plate. Extra food is available for an additional charge.

One adventure which I can personally recommend is the All Inclusive Passion Island by Twister. The rate is $88 for adults and $52 for children. This is such a fun Disney Cruise Adventure.

The ride to Passion Island is so much fun on the Twister. Then you get to spend 3.5 hours on beautiful Passion Island where you can relax and just let your cares melt away.

Relax in a hammock with a margarita – this has to be paradise! If you or your kids want to be more active there is volleyball, soccer, trampolines. All family members are going to find something to do here!

If the Culinary arts are more your thing then the Chocolate Seaside Workshop, Tasting and Wine Pairing is a great option. Travel to Stingray Beach to learn about the history and origins of chocolate. hen try your hand at using soe of the ancient chocolate making techniques that you have learned about.

Of course you get to sample the chocolate and even discover that it pairs beautifully with wine The cost of this Disney Port Adventure is $69 and it is available only to those aged 21 and up.

Ruins

If you want to go further afield and learn about the Aztecs there is an excursion available to the Tulum Ruins. Guests take a 45-minute ferry ride to the Mexican Mainland. There they will discover the ancient city of Tulum and explore the vestiges of the ancient Mayan civilization.

This Mayan history Port Adventure is approximately 8 hours and costs $149 for adults and $108 for children aged 5 to 9.

There are many other Port Adventures to choose from in Cozumel including Scuba, horse riding, salsa dancing, beach breaks and swimming with dolphins.

Key West Port Adventures

Many of the New Orleans Disney Cruises have a port stop in Key West. You can explore the town on your own, but you may want to take one of these Key West Port Adventures to enhance your experience.

Why not take a Bike Tour to explore the town on wheels. You pick up your rental bike and are free to explore on your own. The cost is $48 for anyone aged 10 and up for a 3 hour rental.

The Open-Air Sightseeing Island Tour is another great way to see the highlights of Key West. This hour long non-stop narrated tour takes you to see the major sites such as Ernest Hemingway’s house.

This is open to all ages and priced at $38 for adults, $20 for children aged 3 to 9 and free for the under 3’s.

The Key West Dolphin Watch & Snorkel is a great choice if you want to venture out on the ocean. Guests board a catamaran to go in search of dolphins in the wild. There is also plenty of time to enjoy some snorkeling on this 4 hour adventure. The cost is #121 for adults and $101 for children aged 2 to 9.

Disney Cruise Nassau Port Adventures

Nassau is one of the most visited cruise port stops in the Bahamas. The Disney Wonder stops in port in Nassau’s historic downtown at Prince George Wharf.

Many of the Nassau excursions are centered around the famous Atlantis Resort.

The Atlantis Aquaventure is a very popular excursion where you can enjoy the amazing resort for the day. The cost is $204 for adults and $146 for children aged 4 to 9.

To describe Atlantis as a water park is a bit of an understatement. The resort has the 141 acre Aquaventure water park. Atlantis also has the world’s largest open-air marine habitat, with more than 50,000 sea creatures representing 250 species.

There are a number of other options for Atlantis Port Adventures with Disney if you are interesting in snorkeling or swimming with dolphins.

If Atlantis is not your thing, or you are looking for something a bit less pricey there are many other options.

The Discover Nassau By Land and Sea gives a good overview of the port. You take a cruise for about an hour around the Paradise Island Harbor. Then board a bus to explore by land. This is $76 for adults, $49 for children aged 3 to 9 and $34 for 0 to 2.

The Blue Lagoon Island VIP Beach Day – Adults Only is very tempting if you are sailing without the kids or they are happy to stay on board! You will take a 35 minute bur trip to Blue Lagoon Island where you will spend the day. You are greeted by your “butler” with a refreshing mimosa. Limited soft drinks are included all day, as is a buffet lunch.

The cost of the Beach Day is $121 for each adult age 21 and up. You can also rent Clear-bottom kayaks, snorkeling gear, water bikes, paddleboards and paddle boats for an additional charge.

Here is a complete list of all Nassau Disney Port Adventures.

Progresso Mexico Disney Port Adventures

Progresso is a relatively new cruise port destination. It is on the northern side of the Yucatan Peninsula and has become a popular port stop for ships sailing from New Orleans and Galveston.

Progresso is very different from Cozumel. It is getting used to the influx of tourists, but those looking for the “real Mexico” are more likely to be able to find it here than in it’s more sophisticated counterpart Cozumel.

The cruise dock in Progresso is the longest in the world. 4 miles long! What this means is you are a long way from the town- so thankfully there is a free shuttle. You can go and explore on your own if you want to deal with the throngs of vendors, but personally we would suggest a Progresso Disney Port Adventure.

If you want to explore ancient Mayan history this is the place to be. The Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins Tour takes guests to this spectacular site. Chichen Itza is an Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

It takes about 2 hours to get there by air conditioned bus, but it really is worth seeing this amazing site. The cost is $119 for adults and $89 for children.

Progresso has some beautiful beaches. If you crave a relaxing day in paradise then opt for the Progreso Beach Break Lunch and Drinks Port Adventure. The Slicer Beach Club has a swimming pool, shower, changing areas, restaurant, and bar.

It is a half day excursion with just 90 minutes on the beach and costs $69 for adults and $59 for children aged 3 to 9. This includes a buffet lunch.

If you want a little variety how about the Truck Expedition: Ruins, Bike, Beach and Lunch Adventure? Drive through Progreso to the Xcambo ruins and a beautiful local beach.

Once there you will ride a tandem bike to the Xcambo ruins for an educational tour. Then it’s back on the bus to drive to another local beach where you can spend some time relaxing and enjoying a buffet lunch. The cost is $89 for adults aged 10 to 65 and $74 for children aged 8 and 9.

Castaway Cay Excursions

Castaway Cay Water Vessels

Some of the Disney Cruises from New Orleans have a port stop at Disney’s Castaway Cay (note that the 4 and 5 night cruises do not).

Castaway Cay is Disney’s amazing private island. Imagine Paradise and this comes pretty close – and it has Captain Jack Sparrow and Mickey Mouse too!

You really do not need to book an excursion on Castaway Cay as you can simply spend all day on the beach. There are many activities which are extra though ranging from parasailing to Stingray Adventures, running the Castaway Cay 5K to having a luxurious massage in your private cabana on the beach.

For a complete guide you can go to Disney Castaway Cay Adventures and Excursions Guide.

Disney Cruise New Orleans 2022

Right now none of the Disney Cruises for 2022 are available. However, with the new Disney Wish Ship slated to be launched in January 2022, I am sure that a Disney Cruise ship will sail from New Orleans in 2022.
