When you get onboard your Disney Cruise you are probably going to be looking for something very important.
Food!
You will be happy to know that there are a number of options for you – including one that you may not have thought of.
So let’s start with that.

Most people head straight to the buffet – but there is a much more relaxed alternative that most sailings now I choose.
The sit down lunch. This is available on all of the ships for everyone – there is also a separate concierge only lunch which you can learn about here.
The Dining Room Lunch Experience
An embarkation lunch is available on all the Disney ships.
Let’s take a look at the menu.
I recently had lunch on Disney Wish. Here, you will have lunch in Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Experience.
The photos I have included are from Arendelle and some others from my previous cruises.

Make sure that you take some time to look at the details inside the restaurant. This is a great time to spend some time walking along that very long corridor to see all the art work.

Usually the dining room is very quiet and so it is a very relaxed start to your cruise.

Appetizers
Sliced Smoked Salmon with Lemon and a Honey-Mustard Dill Sauce
I always order this. The smoked salmon is good quality and I really enjoy the sauce.

Beef Empanadas with Red Chimichurri
Mixed Salad with Iceberg, Spinach, Cherry Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Red Onion, and Carrots with a choice of Dressing, Raspberry, Balsamic, Ranch, or Italian Vinaigrette.
From the Kettle
A hearty portion served in individual crocks
Seafood and Chicken Gumbo with Cornbread
Leek and Potato Soup with Soda Bread

Entrees
Pennette Pasta with Tomato-Basil Provencal Sauce, Goat Cheese, and a Spinach Pesto

Grilled Salmon Salad – Grilled Salmon Filet on tossed Iceberg, Citrus-Marinated Couscous, Spinach, Artichokes, Tomatoes, and Cucumbers

Cookies ‘N Cream Cheesecake layered on a Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust with Whipped Crea
Carrot Cake layered with Lemon Cream Cheese
Welcome Aboard Sundae – Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with Pecan Caramel Cupcake Bits, Butternut Squash Sauce, and Whipped Cream
There is a drinks menu too.
No Sugar Added Dessert
Chocolate Marquise Bombe – rich Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry Sauce

It was a little too early in the day for me – but here is a picture of the fabulous Frozen Fractals drink that I ordered at dinner.

Children’s Selection
Always remember that kids can order from the adult menu and adults can also order from the kids menu.
Mickey’s Mac ‘N’ Cheese
Golden Chicken Strips with Barbecue Sauce
Minnie’s Mini Burger
Mickey Check Meal – Grilled Chicken Breast with Roasted Red Skin Potatoes and steamed Carrots and fresh Watermelon served with a choice of Low Fat Milk or Water.
The Buffet
Most people head to the buffet – and this is a great option. There is so much choice ad you are sure to find plenty of things to tempt you.
On Disney Wish and Disney Treasure you have Marceline Market.

On the older ships the buffet is cabanas.
This is always the first thing that I get at the buffet.

There are many choices for the buffet on all the ships.

Of course there are plenty of desserts to tempt you as well.

In Marceline Market there is also a bar where you can get extra charge beverages including coffee.

Pool Deck Food
Another option is to head to the pool deck on any of the ships and grab some food there.
All of the ships have a variety of options, and all of them have pizza and soft serve ice cream.

On Disney Treasure and Disney Wish, Festival of Foods on Deck 11 is very popular.

And remember that free soda, coffee and tea is always available.

Room Service
Another option to think about is that you get Room Service. You won’t be able to get into your stateroom until 1.30 pm on the day that you board, so it may be that you do this a little later in the day after grabbing some food elsewhere first.
Here is the menu for you and you can also see a complete review of the Room Service Menu here.
Appetizers Soups and Salads
All Hands on Deck – a special selection of international cheeses served with crackers featuring Mini Babybel Snack Cheese
This is a great choice for Sailaway from the ports. Pour a glass of wine and enjoy this cheese and fruit plate while you sail away.
If you never order anything else, just make sure you try All Hands on Deck!

Mixed Garden Salad – mixed leaves with tomatoes, cucumber, carrot, peppers, and red onions with a choice of dressings (ranch, raspberry, Italian, or balsamic)
Arugula and Romaine Lettuce Salad – with yellow and red grape tomatoes, bocconcini, balsamic dressing
Grilled Salmon Salad – Crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, Vidalia onions, cucumber, apple-cranberry kasha, and a honey-dijon dressing (gluten and dairy free)
Cream of Tomato Soup – with toasted grilled Wisconsin cheddar cheese sandwich
Chicken Noodle Soup – clear chicken broth, with pulled chicken, egg noodles, carrots, celery, leek, and thyme. Served with sourdough baguette (Dairy Free)
All-American Fare
Buffalo Chicken Wings – with celery and carrots. Choice of Blue Cheese or Ranch Dip.
Crisp Breaded Chicken Tenders – with french fries and barbecue sauce
Crisp Plant-based Chicken Sandwich – on a soft toasted bun, dill pickle, shaved iceberg lettuce, Vidalia onions, plant-based garlic aioli, and sweet potato fries
The Plant Based Chicken Sandwich is really tasty. Sweet potato fries are not really my thing – I should have remembered to substitute regular fries.

Grilled Angus American Cheeseburger – on a toasted brioche bun with shaved iceberg lettuce, Vidalia onions, tomato, dill pickle, and french fries
Flatbreads and Pasta
Penne Bolognaise – penne pasta tossed in a rich bolognese sauce with grated parmesan Reggiano cheese and garlic crostini
*New Lamb and Beef Pide Flatbread Crust Baked with Ground Lamb and Beef blended with Peppers, Tomatoes, and Cilantro
*New Spinach and Feta Pide Flatbread Crust Baked with Mozzarella, Baby Spinach, Vidalia Onions, Feta Cheese, and Roasted Cherry Tomato
I admit before I ordered a Pide on a Disney Cruise I had no idea what it was. DCL used to have pizzas on the Room Service Menu but for some reason changed this to Pides.
The difference? The Pide is more like a flatbread and also is a bit smaller. This is the Spinach and Feta Pide and it was really good.
The Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese is one of my favorites too.

Disney Room Service Desserts
New York Cheesecake – raspberry ganache, fresh whipped cream
Chocolate Truffle Cake – chocolate brownie, truffle mousse, Nutella
Chocolate Chip Cookie – baked daily
You can also order a Mickey Bar and a dessert of the day. There is nothing quite like a Mickey Bar!
